It was the middle of the night when Namjoon's phone rang.
''It better not be another fucking waste of my time...'' Namjoon growled as an answer. ''Shit... gimme a sec...'' Namjoon added after a moment. He got up abruptly and left the room leaving Mirai alone in bed.
Mirai sat up, getting ready for the acting performance of her life.
She would have to act distraught as Namjoon told her her father has passed despite knowing damn well that it wasn't the case.
Namjoon's outburst of the day prior had sealed her plan.
He would never let her father leave his watch as long as he lived, but once Mr Kuromiya was dead, Namjoon's carefull watch would loosen.
He had told her she could only leave his house in a body bag, but joke was on him, it was her father she had decided to smuggle with a body bag.
She had paid one of the hospital's doctor to declare her father dead and hired and full fake medical team to take care of the ''transfer''.
While Namjoon thought her father was going to the morgue, her men disguised as hospital staff were smuggling him out of the hospital with a fake ambulance and flying him straight to Japan on a private flight before morning.
Mirai was getting ready, thinking sad thoughts, as Namjoon appeared back in the room. His men had told him the news by now, he would tell her what had ''happened'' any second now.
The apprehension was making Mirai nervous, but Namjoon seemed quite calm and he simply went back to bed, without saying a word.
''Is anything the matter? Why did you get a call so late?'' Mirai asked, wondering why Namjoon wasn't spilling the beans yet.
''Oh it was nothing big, princess, Jimin got into a fight at one of our clubs...'' Namjoon lied flawlessly, before putting a soft kiss on Mirai's forehead.
Mirai was speechless. It was all an act, but Namjoon didn't know that, he thought her father was dead and he didn't even consider telling it to her.
''You've been working hard these past couple days, how about you take a couple of days off?'' Namjoon suggested sweetly while caressing Mirai's cheek.
He didn't want her to talk to people outside before he could. He didn't want her to learn about her father's death through anyone. He had to do some damage control and make sure nobody would mention her father's death to her before she could go back to her work.
He knew her father was a good tool to keep her obedient, so he was ready to hide something so important to her, just to keep his leverage.
Namjoon gave Mirai a smile so soft and genuine that it broke her heart.
So this is how good of a liar you've become Kim Namjoon, Mira thought for herself.
It would take no time for the truth about her father's ''death'' to come out.
The day before, she was conflicted about betraying Namjoon.
The day before she was terrified of him finding out she was plotting against him.
Now she was impatient.
She couldn't wait for the truth to come out to finally see that grin wiped of his face.
Namjoon would finally get a taste of his own medicine.

Namjoon didn't invite Mirai into his office that day; he was insisting she needed some rest because she looked pale.
She knew he was just trying to hide her father's ''death'' from her, but she smiled and nodded.
He seemed to find her lack of a reaction odd, but he didn't question it.
It was a matter of hours before Namjoon would find out the truth.
Once the truth would be out, the trust she had built with him would shatter and her freedom would be gone once again.
It didn't matter.
Her father was out of the country; safe.
Namjoon had one less weapon to use against her.
The illusion of freedom he had given her wasn't that big of a loss.
What she was after now was real freedom.
Still, she had a feeling she wouldn't be seeing much sunlight for a while so she went for a walk in the manor's fenced gardens, under the careful eye of one of Namjoon's men.
''Hoseok, was it?'' She asked absent-mindedly, while while picking up a camellia.
Of course Namjoon's garden was full of her favourite flowers; it was not even a little surprising at this point.
''Yes...'' the man seemed cheerful around the others, but he was nervous around her. Wisely so, because Namjoon was so protective of her...
''I knew Namjoon from the time he was a boy but we drifted apart in our late teens. I know he went to law school, which makes sense since he comes from a family of laywers, but there's this big blank chunk I can't figure out. What happened between the moment he started law school and the time where he became a mafia boss? The transition just doesn't make sense...'' Mirai explained.
''I don't know if I'm the right person to tell you...'' Hoseok said, visibly uncomfortable.
''Who am I supposed to ask? Jungkook can't even manage eye contact with me and Yoongi is practically mute. You're my best option... Pretty please?'' she asked cutely with a pout.
''Alright... I guess you'll learn one way or another...'' The man said, before sitting on a nearby bench.
Acting cute was never to be underestimated as a weapon against dudes!
Mirai sat next to him on the bench with an attentive smile.
''How did Namjoon become the leader of Bangtan?''
''After he graduated law school, he made a name for himself as a criminal defense lawyer. He defended some big shot gangsters and made a ludicrous amount of money out of it. He got to know very powerful criminals by defending them and he learned about the business. He started a loan business as a front and started dealing in less and less legal stuff.
''He knew the law so well he could avoid getting caught and all of his rivals ended up jailed because he had access to their criminal records and he knew how to get some heavy charges put on them... Bangtan started with him and six other guys, including me.
''Most of us would have gone to prison if not for him taking our cases, so we owe him a lot. At first we were just a small gang but Namjoon crushed all of the other local gangs and jailed their leaders so we kept growing and growing by taking all of their territory and hiring their men as our own. In a matter of years we were the biggest mafia in Korea...'' Hoseok explained clearly quite proud of his boss.
''That's Namjoon through and through, learning the law to be better are breaking it... Still, why didn't he settle for being a lawyer? He would still be filthy rich without the hassle of ruling a mafia...'' Mirai said, impressed but still confused.
''He never said it, but I have a theory as to why he made that decision...'' Hoseok said with a warm smile.
''Care to enlighten me?'' Mirai asked, genuinely curious.
''A simple lawyer could never have you...
