CHAPTER 45

Waking up early the next morning. Tracy went downstairs to fix coffee and some breakfast. The sizzling pop of bacon and sweet smell of homemade blueberry biscuits filled the air. Pulling the cooked bacon out of the pan. Tracy began to fry some eggs. Sensing another presence Tracy looked behind her to see Isiah walk into the kitchen.

Despite the many bags of blood and the continual feeding a regular food. Isiah was still thin and frail. The clothes he wore were too loose on him and his skin pulled tightly over protruding bone held too pale a pallor.

Years of torture, abuse, and starvation pushed his body into survival mode. What healing he possessed went solely into keeping him alive. The suffering he endured was awful and inhuman. But even with all that happened and the danger he was accused of placing everyone in. Tracy could only sense that he was not evil. His reasons however were a complete mystery.

"Good morning. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes." she said.

Isiah smiled weakly, "Do you need some help?"

"If you could finish these eggs. I need to get the blueberry biscuits out."

Isiah walked with a slight limp due to a particularly brutal torture session that his body deemed unimportant to heal right away. He took the spatula and stood to the side of the stove as Tracy opened the oven door and checked the golden orbs. Lifting one and testing the firmness, Tracy stood up shutting the oven door.

"Just needs another minute." she commented.

Quickly grabbing a small bowl, Tracy mixed together powdered sugar, butter flavoring, and a little milk to make a glaze. Pulling the ready biscuits from the hot oven, she set the pan on the side board. Tracy drizzled on the glaze and placed them on the already set table with the bacon strips. Isiah set the eggs out.

"You can grab some coffee and start eating. I'll get everyone else." Tracy said heading to the door before stopping, "And we need to talk later." she added meaningfully.

Isiah didn't meet her eyes but gave a slight nod.

Tracy ran up the stairs and down the hall knocking first on Cade's door. He opened the door with a toothbrush in his mouth and a hand towel thrown over a bare muscular shoulder.

"Breakfast is ready," she said.

Cade nodded and muttered a "thanks," before shutting the door to resume getting ready. Ever since Tracy offered Lady Anna and Cade a place of refuge. The young vampire no longer pretended to be an irresponsible carousing man whore.

Knocking on Gideon's door, she heard him say, "come in." Opening the door, she saw that he was already dressed in one of his usual dark expensive looking suits.

"Good morning," Tracy greeted, "Breakfast is ready."

Using his vampire speed, Gideon was suddenly standing very close to her. His body placed well within her personal bubble space but since he wasn't making any overtures or giving off a creepy vibe, Tracy let it go.

"Thank you. How did you sleep?" Gideon asked gently.

"Very well, thanks for asking. And you?" Tracy asked, getting a feeling that he wanted to say more but other than a simple, "fine," he remained silent.

"Well you should head on down and get started on the food." Tracy said kindly before backing away and continuing to the master bedroom.

Opening the door to her bedroom, she saw Jonathan sprawled out, face down, over the bed. The smooth taunt skin looked golden as the morning rays of sunlight danced over his slumbering form. Placing gentle kisses over the warm firm flesh, Tracy felt intoxicated by the sight and smell of her mate. Jonathan groaned lightly as he wrapped an arm around her small frame, rolling over, he pulled her to his chest.

Tracy traced the muscles of his chest and abs loving the beauty of the moment. Placing a kiss on his ribs, she looked up to see that his eyes were still closed, "Breakfast is ready." she said softly as her arousal grew.

Jonathan opened his eyes. Her heart sped up when she saw that they were full of lust. His mouth curved into a sexy smirk, "Well thank you sweetheart, for bringing my breakfast to bed."

Sliding her smaller frame beneath him, he kissed a loving trail to his target between her thighs as her cries of pleasure spurred him on. It was a long while before either ate any actual food.

------------

Isiah anxiously plucked at his left sleeve. His eyes were downcast and he refused to look up. Tracy felt sorry for him. Looking at Gideon's stone faced expression, he gave nothing away.

Tracy cleared her throat and opened her mouth but Gideon cut her off before she could say a word.

"I want to know why." Gideon demanded in a firm hard tone.

Isiah stilled, looking up their eyes met in a cold unflinching duel.

"I've been imprisoned for almost 20 years, that's a long time to be curious, Uncle." Isiah said quietly.

Gideon's jaw clenched and he looked away.

Isiah looked down and began to nervously pluck at his sleeve again.

"What happened? Why did you take the journal? Are you trying to free Ivory White?" Tracy asked.

"I found my Eternal One." he said in a quiet voice. A small smile played on his lips, "She was a beautiful little girl, just three years old but very very smart."

"Well what happened?" Tracy prompted after a moment of silence.

"She told me that the world was in danger and that the book was not safe. She took my hand and I immediately had a vision. I saw a glimpse of the future. In order to save the world I would have to take the book before others performed a useless slaughter and burning of the ancient library."

"How does a three year old...?"

"Like yourself, she's an anomaly. A seer."

"Okay... Where is the book now?" Tracy asked.

Isiah had once again stilled. Everyone leaned forward, after a few minutes Tracy didn't think he would answer.

Isiah looked up and meet her eyes, "Did you say 'hello' to Lucy yet?"
