SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA hanlim highschool cafeteria
There she sat. There he watched. Beomgyu closed his eyes and sighed as he caught himself staring at Myeonji yet again. What happened yesterday stuck in his head. How did she manage to make him laugh so carelessly? How did she manage to make him smile so effortlessly? That hasn't happened in years.
"Yo, Beom."
Beomgyu looked at his friend, Soobin. His cheeks were full and his chopsticks made its way to his plate. "You gonna eat that?"
"No." Beomgyu replied.
Soobin's eyes lit up. "Can I..."
Beomgyu shoved his tray towards his friend. "Fine."
Soobin smiled and grabbed a piece of fish on Beomgyu's tray. He looked back at the boy and noticed he kept looking at the same girl for the past few minutes.
"Is that the girl you went to the VR arcade with?" Soobin asked while turning back to his tray of food. This grabbed Yeonjun, Taehyun and Hueningkai's attention. They all looked up from their phones and averted their gaze to Beomgyu.
"You went to the arcade with a girl?!" The youngest in the group, Hueningkai asked.
Beomgyu felt his cheeks warm up. "W-Well, I—yeah? I did so what?"
The five boys exchanged looks. Four of them smiled, the one still holding a serious face as he always does.
"Ooh Beomgyu~" Yeonjun teased the boy. "That was technically a date."
Beomgyu groaned. "No it wasn't, stupid! I barely know her!" Beomgyu defended himself.
"But still, you were supposed to go with me." Yeonjun looked back at his phone.
"Yeah, and I would've if you didn't ditch me for your girlfriend." Beomgyu rolled his eyes.
"There he is again folks." Taehyun shook his head. "Just as I thought you were warming up to her and even us." Taehyun put his phone on the table. "Beomgyu it's alright to forget about the past. Move on and learn to accept people in your life again."
"Oh, are you my therapist now?" Beomgyu rudely replied. "Plus, it's the same for you, isn't it? It's not so easy for you to accept people in your life too, huh?" Beomgyu sharply inhaled before looking dead center in Taehyun's eyes. "Don't tell me what to do, hypocrite."
