Golden eyes darted towards the window. The sun was rising from its crimson bath, dragging the scarlet hues along with it. "The next robbery will take place on the day the sky is painted scarlet," Shuichi mumbled to himself recalling the interrogation from a few days ago. The place and time were written in the riddle all were left was for them to carry out the plan and catch the phantom thief.

Scarlet faded away to periwinkle blue as time slowly ticked away. Security tightened and police members slid into hiding, quietly waiting for night to arrive. It was long till the sky was an inky blue dotted with thousands of glittering gems. The moon shone bright lighting the way for a small trickster.

All sources of communication were unable to connect, the security cameras shut down. A dainty little figure scaled upwards and snuck their way in. Who would have thought that it would be so easy to ruin the polices plans. You'll think that they would have been a bit more careful. Nobody could stop the one and only phantom thief Kokichi Ouma.

Nimble feet danced across the polished tiles, dodging every security measure that was put up. All it took was one of Miu's bombs to put all the police to sleep. Finally he arrived, standing on a pedestal on display for everyone to see was his target. Grasping out he snatched the jewel. While synchronously replacing it with an almost exact duplicate made by Angie.

"Return the jewel!" Shuichi demanded bursting threw the doors.

"Well if it isn't my beloved detective! Finally noticed that your communication lines are down?"

"You are going to have to return that jewel."

"Geez, is that seriously all you're going to say? How about a greeting next time?" Kokichi said leaning forwards. "Afterall you were much more talkative during the interrogation."

"That was you?"

"Of course!" Kokichi exclaimed before reaching up and pulling down his shirt collar, exposing his chest. "Those scars were fake of course, wouldn't want you thinking that we experimented on our members, wouldn't we?"

Shuichi leaned forwards to get a better view. "So they were fake, then you have a makeup specialist on your side." Poking at the skin Shuichi considered the possibilities.

"Hey! At least buy me dinner before touching my body like that!" Kokichi said with an overdramatic shout.

Shuichi's face blushed red as he realized how the situation appeared. "I didn't mean it like that!"

Kokichi grinned from beneath the mask as he pressed closer to Shuichi. "Are you sure about that?"

"Yes......is your name really Kokichi?"

"What! Did you really think that it was a lie? Gasp, how could you...I-I I thought you trusted me!"

"Eh...most people don't really say gasp...so is that a yes?"

"Of course silly, you didn't forget about me did you?"

"Are you implying that we knew each other before?"

"You wouldn't forget about all those years we spent together, right? Going to class, eating together, graduating high school together, getting married.....well....the last one might be a lie."

"I see..so we went to high school together and your name is Kokichi.....could it be?"

"How cute, you're trying so hard to figure out my identity. Too bad that the name part was just a lie, nishishi! A true phantom thief never reveals their true identity!"

"So it was all just a lie?"

Before Kokichi could confirm or deny this, they were interrupted by the distant wailing of sirens.

"Aw, looks like time's up! As lovely as it was I need to go, see you next time my beloved." Kokichi leaped towards the window in attempts to escape.

"Wait, the gem!" Shuichi dashed forward barley grasping Kokichi's wrist.

Mockingly Kokichi turned to face Shuichi. "I didn't know that you were that excited to have me." Lifting his mask up sideways Kokichi stole a kiss from Shuichi. Taking advantage of Shuichi's reaction he twisted his wrist free, pressed a note into Shuichi's hand and jumped out the window saying "farewell my beloved, till next time."

Shuichi stared out a bit dumbfounded, he wasn't too worried about the whole jumping out of a window thing. This wouldn't be the first time Kokichi did that. Kokichi? That's what he said his name was right? If he was bluffing about the lie, then that would mean that his identity was no longer a secret. Even if it was a lie they still discovered a clue, the phantom thief went to his high school and they were close. They were short and had a flair for drama, it might be possible to identify them at the next class reunion. It was a possible link, he'll need to expand on that train of thought later.

For now he needed to check on the others and read the note. Fingers brushed across his lips as he recalled how he got that note.
