Standing in the dim forest I was on high alert. Jasper was behind me and in front of me stood Alice, who looked forward her eyes slightly glassy as she searched for Victoria in her mind. We stood in silence when finally Carlisle spoke. "You sure this is where you saw her?"
Alice doesn't look back and Noah approaches her looking at her far off gaze as she searched her mind. I looked back at Jasper who's face was blank as he waited. "She's almost here," Alice whispers causing the muscles in my back to tense as I could sense her approaching. The stillness of the forest adding to my apprehension as I snap my head to the left when suddenly Alice yells "On your left!" That set everyone into motion. I was on Emmett's heels, avoiding branches from the trees. Emmett and I had managed to catch up to the redhead. Emmett extended his arm only for Victoria to throw him. I managed to miss the burly vampire, staying closely on glued to her. I try to reach for her when she made the hasty jump across the ravine. I halted hitting a tree watching it fall over the cliff.
I grunt feeling Jasper's arm pull me back. I seethed when Carlisle spoke "Wait! She's in their territory!" I watched her turn, beginning to run in the opposite direction. We all take off in a sprint
"She'll getaway!" Esme yells as we follow behind her
"No, she won't!" Jasper yells behind me as the wolves break the tree line after her. Emmett and I led the group Jasper close behind us. The wolves close on her heels. I could almost feel her next move pushing my body to move faster as she jumped over the water once more. Jasper watches her jump over the trees following her, just missing her as she lands I manage to catch her. Her momentary surprise caused us to fall rolling, I continue to pull at her just as she pulls at my hair. We roll in the dirt before we fell into the water. She took this to jump running away from me back on wolf territory. I groan pulling myself out of the water in a sprint after her still in our territory. My anger now amplified by 100. She jumps once more over into our territory, Emmett again gets close, and she jumps back into wolf territory, only Emmett follows her. We all halt watching Emmett and a wolf glare at one another. Victoria used this to run, and we stand watching Emmett with worry. Emmett crosses back over to us still seething from the obvious loss. I look at Jasper with disappointment. He moves wordlessly, pressing a kiss into my now wet hair. I sighed Victoria will be back and something tells me it's going to be a lot harder to get her than this time.
