I went back to the Cullen house, my muscles stressed as Bella and Carlisle had went to attend to Jacob. Edward sat across from me at the chess table as I glared at the pieces in thought. "She was thankful," I look at him taking my eyes off the pawn "Bree, she knew you couldn't help but was grateful that you were kind to her," I sigh looking back at the pawn "She was ready to go, she'd lost her mate to Victoria," I look at Edward again
"She, none of the newborns, deserved their fates. All this because Bella and I fell in love with vampires," Edward moves a pawn on his side, the pawn obviously meaning something else in this conversation.
"You're right," He agrees "We set this path but we didn't put them in danger. Victoria made that choice. Her greed put their souls to hell," He comments I move another piece the game of chess commencing as we waiting for more. Edward beat me but his words weren't wrong. "Do you ever think about how different our lives would've been if all this didn't exist?"
"If any of this didn't exist I don't think I would've found Jasper, and I don't want to know life without him," Edward looks down smiling "And I think you know the same about Bella," He nods "I'm not mad at the life we created Edward, Bella knew what she did when she fell in love with you. She chose you, cherish that. We aren't going anywhere," I promised standing putting my hand on his shoulder "I know my sister like I know my mind, you'll never find someone that loves you more than she loves you," I say "She's the best of us," I smile leaving Edward behind
