Alexander's POV
Rebel Captain: Go to hell Imperial d-
The rebel was cut off when one of my soldiers hit him in the face with the butt of his rifle. It had been a few days since I began my assualt on the key points controlled by the Western Tribes.
Now I was at the third point, only two remained before I could return to the Capital. This rebel specifically was the captain of the garrison in the town we just took. We were attempting to interrogate him but he just kept insulting us.
Alexander: We've been at this for ten minutes now ever since we secured the entire town. Your men surrendered two minutes into the skirmish after they saw our tanks. Even after all that, you're pride, arrogance, and bravado keep you from saying anything useful
Rebel Captain: We'll die for what we believe in! You won't get anything from me you son of a b-
The soldier then hit him with the butt of his rifle again. I sighed and exited the garrison building with Vandenberg.
Vandenberg: Would you like me to begin executing rebels sir?
Alexander: Not yet, there's something I need to know
Vandenberg: Yes sir?
Alexander: Is the town mayor still alive?
Vandenberg: Yes he is, we've got him under guard in the town hall sir
Alexander: Excellent, let's go speak with him then
We then began walking towards the town hall. As we did so, I could see my soldiers sorting out captured rebels. Officers were selecting certain rebels, mainly well fit ones and those of high ranking. The orders I gave them were to sort out the strong from the weak and the officers from the grunts.
They were quite a few rebels at this garrison, so we would get a fair amount of workers. Those who weren't chained up and being loaded onto wagons were to be executed. The minister wanted me to send a message, so I will indeed send a damn message.
We entered the town hall and made our way to the mayor's office where he was speaking with Captain Sylvain. The moment they saw me and Vandenberg enter said office they stopped their conversation and turned to us.
Sylvain: "General" he said saluting
Alexander: As you were, what were you speaking to the mayor about?
Sylvain: "Sir, we were speaking of how the rebels took the town garrison. There was a decent amount of Imperial soldiers here" he said placing his hand down
Alexander: Is that so?
Sylvain: Yes general
I looked at Vandenberg and gestured towards Sylvain. He understood that I wanted to speak with the mayor privately, so he nodded and looked at Sylvain.
Vandenberg: Sylvain come with me, we need to move the rest of the prisoners and prepare for their executions
Sylvain: Yes Commissar Vandenberg
The two left the office and closed the door behind them. It was just me and the mayor, I sat down on a chair in front of his desk as he sat down on his own.
Alexander: Tell me, what do you think of the Empire?
Mayor: I'm sorry general?
Alexander: You heard me
Mayor: W-well things could be better in all honesty. The economy has been quite bad and towns like this alongside villages have been heavily taxed
