Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

He missed her. He truly missed her. But she was gone now.

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

Wilford knew she was better off without him. He was dangerous to be around. He was barely an inch away from the trigger of a gun. She was scared of him sometimes. He knew that, but he didn't know how to stop himself. He didn't have a firm grasp on mental stability after the events of the manor.

Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last

Wilford was staring down into the empty glass Dark had just poured. "I really thought I could hold onto this. This one thing that mattered. I love her, Damien. I know she's better without me, but I love her."

But dreams come slow and they go so fast
You see her when you close your eyes

"I see her everywhere. She haunts me, just like everyone else." Wilford shook his head sadly.

Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies

"Everything. Everything and everyone around me dies. Don't you see that Damien? I'm a plague to this Earth. All those people, back at the manor-" Dark cut Wilford off harshly. "What happened at the manor does matter. And neither does anything else. You're a good person Will, you're not a poison, you're a medicine. Terrible at first, but the greatest thing in the long run."

'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

"You miss her now, but it'll hurt less one day. One day you'll realize that this is for the best. We....we aren't meant to get what we want. Hell, we wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for the one person we hate most. But you have to look at this way. She'll go on to be happy, and live a life without being in hiding. It really is for the best. I'm sorry, but that's how it is."

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

"You're terrible at pep talks, old friend." Wilford said, but there was no malice in his words, there wasn't even sadness, there was just nothing. It was hollow. Part of him knew Dark was right, and yet, he still hurt. He couldn't see the bright side, not yet. "I'm going to bed. Goodnight Damien." Dark just watched him go, pained. He'd never admit it, but he'd give anything to see Wilford happy again. He didn't like this side of him.

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
Love comes slow and it goes so fast

The bed felt cold without her to Wilford. He was in bed, all alone, just staring into the darkness. He felt hollow. It all went by too fast for him.

Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
'Cause you loved her too much and you dive too deep

He didn't want to even close his eyes. He'd see her, clear as if seeing her right in front of him. He'd reach out for her, but she'd slip through his fingers like sand. Her memory was all he had.

'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

He didn't understand why things had to be this way.

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

He didn't understand why he couldn't control himself

And you let her go
Oh oh oh no
And you let her go
Oh oh oh no
And you let her go

"Life isn't fair." He reminded himself.

Well, you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

"This is just how it is." He told himself.

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

"This is for the best." He convinced himself.

'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

"I'll be okay." He lied to himself.

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

Wilford was shocked when he saw (Y/n), only across the street. He was tempted to go over, and talk to her, try and get her back. He loved her so much.

And you let her go

But instead, he turned around, and walked away. It was time to let go.
