Chapter 21

///// My breath stopped when a sudden bang sounded and immediately tore me out of my own thoughts.

While the heads of my classmates snapped towards the direction of the heavy noice, not a single person dared to break the unpleasent atmosphere.
Our teacher looked just as confused and alarmed as the rest of us.

Before he could even say anything, the fire alarm of the school went off, causing the many students to chatter in confusion and panic.

Overwhelmed, I looked at Momo, who had the same baffled expression on her face as I did.

'What is happening?'

"Please calm down", my teacher's deep voice sounded as he watched the concerned looks of his students.

"Line up in two rows before we leave the building together. There was probably just an accident."

Thoughtlessly we followed his instructions and lined up in front of the door.
A little unsettled I took Momo's hand in mine and interlocked our fingers.

No one knew what exactly was going on, but  there was no doubt that something bad had happened.

"Okay, let's go", Mr. Jung said after checking our positions, opening the door shortly afterwards.

With no hesitation  we went out into the corridor where we already met classes and teachers who were leaving their own rooms as well.

Chaotically, everyone tried to get outside quickly while the many students mumbled confused and asked different students whether they have heard that loud bang too.

Nobody had a clue, until suddenly the sound of shooting guns appeared and automatically caused everyone to scream in panic and fear.

As if the survival switch in people's heads had flipped, everyone started running outside, pushing each other mindlessly in the big crowd.

Instinctively I pulled Momo closer to my own body and made sure we left the building together and safely.

Once outside, everyone immediately gathered in the schoolyard while the alarm continued to go off with a shrill sound.

My eyes scanned the mass in front of me, hoping I would find that one person I cared about the most.

My heart became faster with every second in which I could not discover the familiar face. It seemed as if my soul was slowly leaving my body and I would collapse at any moment out of sheer anxiety.

I quickly approached one of the teachers who was checking the students for their presence.

I went one step closer and was about to speak to Mr. Bang when suddenly another teacher came running towards him and stopped only two feet away.

"Any information?" asked Mr Bang and watched as Mr Sung leaned on his knees, breathing heavily, trying to calm himself down.

"There was an - an explosion," the words left his lips as he gasped for air.

"What! Where?"

"In the- the chem- chemistry lab..."

As if my heart had just been ripped out by an animal, every spark of life left my body as I stood there completely paralyzed.

What was probably just a second, felt like thousands and I could feel myself slowly sinking into a deep black hole.

Every single one of my nerves shot an alarming and fearful wave down my spine and caused my heart beat to gradually race faster and faster.

"The chemisty lab?"

The words slipped out of my mouth quietly while my whole body started to shake.

Both teachers looked at me confused before they finally realized which student was standing right in front of their eyes.

"Sunghee-"

I didn't waste another second and ignored what both men were about to say to me.

Instead, every muscle inside of me reacted completely autonomously and set my legs in motion before I could even think about my own actions twice.

As if possessed by the devil, I ran back into the building- my own heart, as if it would jump out of my chest at any moment.

Yoooo so yesterday I got my finals and guess what, I won the biggest prize🥺 that means I have to give a speech in front of everybody at my graduation ceremony
I'm kinda excited but also a bit scared because I'm not used to taking in front of so many people🙈

Anyway hope you liked the chapter although it's a bit short😊
I wanted to make a hectic atmosphere
