Chapter 23: Other

Eliza's POV

"Thank you, manong," ang sabi ko sa taxi driver at sinara na ang pinto.

Kagagaling ko lang sa malapit na grocery store para mamili ng mga kailangan dito sa bahay. Paubos na kasi ang mga gamit sa kusina at ako na ang nag-atubili na bumili.

Ginagawa pa rin ang malapit na mall sa amin pagkatapos ng nangyareng pagbomba. Aaminin ko naman na nakakaramdam pa rin ako ng takot sa tuwing pupunta ako sa mataong lugar pero hindi dapat ako maging ganito habang buhay.

Papasok na sana ako sa bahay pero nakita ko ang isang Wrangler na nasa tapat ng bahay ko. Kumunot ang noo ko habang pinagmamasdan ang kotse pero nagkibit-balikat na lang ako at tuluyan na ngang pumasok ng bahay.

"Manang Ising," I called, but when I entered the house, my brows narrowed as I saw unexpected guests. They looked surprised when they saw me, but what are they doing in my house?

Morde, Desmond, Tito Mike, and even Desmond's parents are here. I was confused and shocked at the same time. Did they plan on something and didn't tell me?

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked and put down my groceries, but I was surprised and stunned when Desmond suddenly approached and hugged me tightly.

"I thought he got you already," Desmond mumbled, and his voice is trembling. I have no idea what is going on, but I caressed Desmond's back for him to calm down.

"Desmond, calm down." I'm confused about what is happening, but I'm worried about why he's acting like this.

Nang kumalma na ito ay humiwalay na siya sa akin at hinawakan ang braso ko kaya mas lalo akong naguluhan.

Suddenly Manang Ising appeared, and she looked uneasy. "What is happening here? Why are you here at my house?" I questioned them, but some of them let out a deep breath, and the others massaged their egos.

"Maybe I should give you a bodyguard from now on, Eliza," singit ni Tito Mike na may bahid ng pag-aalala.

"Bodyguard? Why, Tito Mike? Ayos naman ang lahat kaya bakit mo ako bibigyan ng bodyguard?" Nagsimulang tumaas ang boses ko dahil ito na naman kami sa usapang hindi kami magkasundo.

"Eliza," tawag sa akin ni Desmond at kaagad ko siyang tinaasan ng kilay. May plano na naman ba silang hindi sinabi sa akin?

"I think they should talk about this because it's for Eliza's safety," suhestiyon ni Tito Alesso pero hindi ko pa rin nakukuha ang mga sinasabi nila. Wala man lang ba magsasabi sa akin kung anong nangyayare?

"Maiiwan na lang po ako dito, Tito," Morde uttered, and his stare was still on mine, the reason why I gulped. Alam niyang pumayag na ako kaya ganyan siya makatingin sa akin, hindi ba?

He took the risk, but I didn't because I was worried about my father's company. It's a selfish thing that I will prioritize him first over my father's company.
