You'd always loved the sunshine. The warmth was always welcome. Its rays were like a hug, constantly wrapping you in comfort and love. It was like the world saying, "Hey, everything's going to be alright".

The sun was warm, beautiful, and blinding.

It was so, incredibly blinding.

You closed your eyes tighter, trying to hold onto the little bit of sleepiness that you had left. The sunlight was also ruthless, shining behind your eyelids in a way that screamed at you to turn over. So you did.

Opening your eyes, you were met with your husband's back. He wasn't wearing a shirt- not that you minded- and was still asleep, his side rising and falling steadily. You couldn't help but stare. Even his back, muscular and littered with battle scars, was gorgeous. He was practically perfect. You wished he could see that.

You scooted closer to him, leaning upon your elbow to look over his shoulder. A soft smile sat on his face. You were glad- he'd been having nightmares lately. It was about time he had a good sleep. War takes a toll on even the strongest of leaders, after all. Reaching over, you laid your hand on his shoulder, rubbing it gently as you admired him. You couldn't help but think of how he resembled the sunshine in a way.

Bright. Warm. Welcoming. Loving.

"Enjoying the view, darling?" The sun's voice startled you.

Green eyes looked up at you as their owner shifted to turn on his back, pulling you into his side. You laid on his shoulder, your hand now pressing flat against his chest. His heartbeat quickened. That was just something it always did around you. He leaned down to press a kiss to the crown of your head.

"Definitely," You smiled, returning his kiss by pressing your own against his cheek. "You seemed to be sleeping well, finally."

"Yes, well, we'll see how long that lasts." He joked.

"Claude, don't say that!" You scolded, "I hope it lasts a while, love, you've been exhausted."

"Exhausted isn't a strong enough word, but I've gotta suck it up. We've got to lead our country, you know."

You looked at the grandfather clock that rocked almost menacingly against the wall. "We still have an hour before we have to be up."

At that, Claude laughed. A beautiful sound that rang louder than the clock that was counting down the seconds before you had to part for your respective duties. He turned once more to fully face you, leaning up on one elbow as you had before as his legs automatically tangled with yours. He cupped your jaw.

"I guess we'll have to put it to good use."

He leaned in, kissing you gently. You eagerly kissed back, your hands grabbing onto his shoulders to pull him closer. Every touch of his sent electricity coursing through your body, the jolts full of love. Claude shifted again to hover over you completely, his lips never leaving yours as his other arm began to help support his weight. You tilted your head, deepening the kiss.

Claude let out a quiet breath as he pulled away. Keeping his forehead against yours, he looked into your eyes seriously. Suddenly, he smiled. His hand crept up to yours- which had moved from his shoulder to his cheek- and started fiddling with the metal band on your finger. He shook his head in disbelief.

"How did I get someone like you?" He breathed out.

"Me? How did I get someone like you?" You retorted, "You're perfect, Khalid."

Your husband flushed a bit. You only used his real name during more intimate, serious moments. "You're impossible. Let me compliment you without you deflecting it!"

You could only grin. "No way. Not 'till you learn your worth."

Claude closed his eyes and smiled again. "I'll know my worth as soon as you know yours." He flopped down, tired of leaning over you, landing his head in the crook of your neck as you cuddled him close to your chest.

"I think I'm worth breakfast in bed..." You trailed off jokingly.

Claude, on the other hand, couldn't joke. If his darling wanted breakfast in bed, then they were going to get it. He shot up, once again kissing you. "Say no more. I'll be back with it soon. Don't go anywhere, we're not done cuddling. I love you!"

He practically ran out of the bedroom, making you laugh as you called after him.

"I love you too, my sunshine."
