Year one: Diagon Alley

I jump out of bed to an alarm, which i remembered to set, and get dressed.

Skipping down the stairs I find father in the kitchen cooking breakfast. "Morning sweet pea, did you sleep well?"

I look through the mail on the table "hardly a blink" my face drops "father, there's nothing in the mail for me"

I look at the pile as my father holds up an envelope "this what you're looking for?"

I nearly punch him as I snatch my letter from him "not funny dad!" My mum walks in and jumps into the conversation "seriously hun, not cool"

dad looks offended that his prank wasn't approved as mother kissed me on the forehead "happy birthday sweetie"

I smile back and rip open my letter staring at the contents in amazement

I got a little lightheaded at the thought that if i forgot to grab a single one of these, my time at Hogwarts wouldn't run smoothly at all.

"Oh sweetie, i start today and your father needs to go to the ministry, will you be fine on your own?"

I got more woozy when I realized no one would be there to point it out if I missed something

"i'll be fine" I lied.

"Good, I was hoping you'll be okay with it, keep the list and keep checking it to make sure you don't miss anything" I smile and think about something for the first time

"mum, dad? What house were you two in?" Dad was the first to answer smiling "both me and your mother were in hufflepuff when we were still at school"

I suddenly think that it would only make sense if I got into hufflepuff as well, then the family could be all of the same house in a nice orderly fashion. It didn't just make sense, it felt like that was how it should be.
