When Jeongguk walked out to the balcony, Taehyung was no where to be found. It took him a second to realize there was a wooden staircase that spiraled down to the Husch field, and another to realize Taehyung was making his way down it.

"Tae!" He yelled.

He couldn't tell if Taehyung didn't hear or just chose to ignore him. Either way, Jeongguk followed the brunette down.

"Taehyung!" Jeongguk tried again as he raced down the uneven steps, watching from a distance as the brunette threw his bag to the side, dropped down onto the grass and laid in the middle of the field.

Taehyung didn't spare the ravenette a glance, even as he closed up on him.

"What's wrong?"

No answer.

Jeongguk scanned the area, the exact same spot they had first met, then averted his gaze back to Taehyung. "Is this payback for when I was being an ass and ignored you?"

When he got no response, Jeongguk lowered himself onto the ground next to the brunette. Their bodies aligned, face turned towards the sky and hands resting on his stomach. A comfortable silence engulfed them like a blanket, slowing both their heartbeats until they beat at the same pace.

It was the way their souls intertwined without knowledge of it, communicating in this language known as their own. Like they breathed in the essence of each other and let themselves be intoxicated in visions of their past, present and futures.

Both naive.

Not grasping the fact their dreams meant something more than just moving images.

"You were right, you know," The ravenette piped up after a moment, unaware of all the confusing thoughts coursing through Taehyung's mind. "when we met the first time— you said the sky looked even better at night. I was here a few nights back. It was beautiful."

He heard Taehynug exhale and glanced at him. The brunette shifted, turning to his side to face Jeongguk fully and the ravenette locked onto his gaze without fear.

"Talk to me." Jeongguk whispered, eyebrows knitted.

Taehyung didn't know what to say. He just knew that the ache in his chest had softened now that Jeongguk was here with him and only him.

"You cared enough to follow me here?" The brunette's eyes flickered across Jeongguk's face, as if trying to read into his intentions.

Jeongguk frowned at the question. "You'd do the same for me."

In truth, Jeongguk didn't have the slightest inkling about what happened to his cold and calloused heart. In Taehyung's presence, it had become lighter and easier to carry.

It gave him the freedom to care for someone other than himself.

"Do you want to tell me why you're out here? Why you're upset?"

Taehyung stared at the ravenette, soaking in the way sunlight casted soft shadows across his face and warmed the tone of his skin. What a contrast it was to his dark, doe eyes, dark hair, dark sweater. And he thought about the Jeongguk staring back at him now. What a contrast to his first impression of the boy, who showed zero ounce of compassion or sincerity.
