She woke up to the sound of what seemed like water dripping. Slowly she took in her surroundings. Her eyes went wide in shock when she looked at the pool of blood surrounding her. Her fair-skinned body was stained with blood and she realized that the dripping sound came from the open wounds on her skin. She was still tied up and her arms ached.
The door opened and a petite girl, not much older than herself entered the room. She started to wash the blood off of Caryn, avoiding her gaze. "Hi. May I perhaps have some water?" Caryn asked. The girl shook her head. "Sorry, but master ordered that you stay here and that you are not to be given anything" she said looking away. "I was ordered to clean you and the place up. He will be back tomorrow and said that you can leave the chamber then. I'm sorry" she added. Caryn just nodded her head, tears running down her face. Weakly she said: "Oh Lord, what did I ever do to deserve this". She sobbed until she felt empty and tired. Her head fell forward, indicating that she was asleep.
