Chapter 34: Taken

"Are you doing a general cleaning today?" Aki asked Y/N who was busy using the vacuum.

"Ah- No. I just have to clean the guest room to prepare it for this afternoon."

"Are you having someone over?" Aki leaned on the wall and asked curiously.

"Hai. It's for the project by pair and the deadline is in a few days." Y/N smiled sheepishly. "Is it okay, Aki-nee?"

"Let me guess. Your partner is Moriya-san." Nami said as she overheard the conversation. She settled in the living room and watched tv.

Y/N finished her task and went out of the room

"What about you, Nami? Your partner is Sumiya-san, right?"

"Yep."

"Are you also inviting her over?"

"No. We'll make the project at her house." replied Nami. "When will Moriya-san arrive?"

"In a few hours." Y/N checked the time

"Whose this Moriya-san?" Aki sat on the couch opposite of Nami.

"Ah- Um.." Y/N grew awkward as she remembered a scene. "It's actually Rui, Aki-nee."

Aki's eyes slightly widened at the familiar name

"Pardon my intrusion." Rui said as he made a small bow. Y/N greeted him and guided him inside the house

"Welcome to the Aoi home" Nami said as she walked past Rui. "Y/N, Aki-nee, I'm leaving now. I'll spend the night at Kana's."

Aki observed the two silently. She eyed Rui up and down as the two walked towards the guest room.

"Here, Rui. You'll be staying in this room. Sorry if there are still dirt or stuff." spoke Y/N in a sheepish tone. "I only cleaned the room this morning."

"It's fine. I can just sleep anywhere so don't worry about it." joked Rui. "Shall we start planning our project?"

"Hai. Let's go to the living room."

Rui noticed Aki sitting on the couch. He greeted the girl and Aki gave him a tight-lipped smile

"Are you sure that we aren't disturbing?" Rui asked lowly. "Maybe we're distracting her."

"Oh, you mean Aki-nee?" Y/N glanced at the girl. "Of course not. Let's just focus on our project."

Rui nodded and went back on their task. He and Y/N discussed on how they are going to present their project and how they are going to divide the work

"We have to make an essay about it, right? I think I'll work on that one." Rui said.

"Okay. Then I'll research about the methodology of our project."

Throughout their discussion, Rui could feel a sharp stare directed at him. He just ignored it though he was certain that it could only come from Aki

By nightfall, the two already completed half of the work and they shared a high five

"Yes. I told you that I'm a good team mate." Rui spoke proudly.

"Yeah. You're not that bad."

"Oh shut up." Y/N laughed at this and stood up. "I'm preparing dinner. Do you want anything?"

"Surprise me with your dish." answered Rui with a wink and Y/N smirked playfully.

"Fine then. Just wait for a few minutes."

Rui nodded and Y/N left to the kitchen. Aki eventually came out of her room and settled herself near Rui.

Rui slightly grew awkward and decided that he should start a conversation. However, Aki beat him to it as she smiled faintly at Rui.

"So you're Rui?"

"Hai. Nice to meet you, Aki-senpai."

Aki hummed in response and leaned her face on her hand

"Did you and Y/N finished your project already?"

"Um, almost. We already finished most of the work." replied Rui thoughtfully

"I see.." Aki pondered for some moment. "How long have you known Y/N?"

"Since middle school." Aki nodded at the response and Rui studied her

"She must be protective of Y/N. That may be the reason why she is wary of me earlier."

"Hm. Then you must be good friends?"

"You can say that."

"Dinner's ready." Y/N announced as she went to the living room. She was surprised to see Aki talking with Rui

"Aki-nee." Y/N sent Aki a look and the girl giggled.

"My, don't look at me like that, Y/N. I'm just having a talk with your good friend here." Aki turned to Rui. "Right, Rui?"

Rui nodded and Y/N released a small sigh.

"Anyways.. Rui, Aki-nee. Let's go and eat dinner."

Aki cheerfully got up and immediately clung to Y/N's arm. Rui blinked in wonder while Y/N grew embarrassed

"Yey. Feed me this time, Y/N~ "

"Wah- Aki-nee." Y/N glanced back at Rui.

"Won't you feed your onee-chan?" said Aki with a pout.

"All right. Stop pulling me now." Y/N blushed faintly. "Sorry, Rui. Aki-nee sometimes act childish especially when she's at home."

"It's a little surprising." Rui mused as he remembered the girl's image at school

The three went to the dining room and Rui sat opposite the two girls

"It tastes delicious, Y/N-chan." Rui commented as he munched on his meal

"I'm glad." replied Y/N as she fed Aki

"Right? Y/N is so great at cooking." smiled Aki. "She really makes a great wife. Well, my wife. Tehee ♡ "

"A-Aki-nee." Y/N protested with a blush and Aki giggled

"You two are really close." Rui mused.

"Yep." Aki leaned her head on Y/N's shoulder. Y/N just stayed still, hoping that Rui won't think of anything weird

"Y/N and I are close. More than you can imagine." spoke Aki with a glint in her eye

Rui grew confused for a moment but he shrugged off Aki's words

"Anyways, Rui. Do you have anyone special right now?"

"Aki-nee." Y/N said in a reprimanding tone since Rui might be uncomfortable

"What? I'm just curious." shrugged Aki

"Well.. I'm not in a relationship right now but I do have someone special that I think of."

Y/N stared at Rui in surprise

"Really? Who?"

"It's a secret. But I do hope that I can tell her one day." replied Rui as he met Y/N's gaze

Aki didn't miss the implication and she narrowed her eyes at the boy

"Must be good to have someone you like." remarked Aki with fake interest

"What about you, Aki-senpai?" Rui shifted his gaze to Aki. "Do you have someone you like?"

"Of course." Aki shrugged. "Even Y/N does."

"What?"

"You do?" Rui followed after Y/N's confused interjection.

"Of course she does." Aki sneakily stroked Y/N's thigh under the table. Y/N lightly flinched and glared at Aki

"She likes her favorite actors on screen. You can say that she considers herself taken by her celebrity crushes." Aki chuckled. "Right, Y/N?"

"I-I'll wash the dishes ahead." Y/N said as she stood up

" I see.. It's those people." Rui sighed in relief, not noticing Aki's smirk directed at him
