"It was only ever you."
Thranduil repeated once again. Leaning in to kiss Caerwyn.

She quickly held her hand up to block him. Clamping his lips with her fingers. "Hold up a minute there, just because I've decided not to be angry at you, doesn't mean you're back in my good graces. You've got two thousand years of explaining to do and I've got ALL of my memories now."

Caerwyn pulled back from Thranduil and turned towards the door, "I assume our chambers are still in the same spot?"

"They are but I had them sealed after I recovered from the Dragon War. They will need to be cleaned."

Caerwyn's shoulders sagged, " I was really looking forward to enjoying my own bathing pool. Are the bathhouses in the same place?"

"Yes."

"Good, then have someone bring me down a fresh change of clothes."

Caerwyn breezed out of the room, the door slamming shut behind her.

Thranduil sat down with a loud sigh. There was no doubt, this was his wife back from the dead.

Caerwyn POV

I stormed down to the bath houses, they were fed by a thermal spring that ran under Mirkwood. I ignored the stares of the remaining residents of Mirkwood. There were so few left.

Most would have left for Valinor. I imagined that Lady Celediel and my friend Tauriel were with them. I made a mental note to ask Thranduil about them later.

In fact the only reason Thranduil was still here was because our son was still wandering Middle Earth. I at least had to give him credit for waiting for Legolas.

My brain was still as mass of confusion as my memories of the cold Thranduil of this time clashed with the memories of my warm and caring husband. If I had never pressured him to fight the dragons things would have been so different. I guess in part the way he is now, is my fault.

Finally I made it to the bathhouses, the warm steam billowing around the bathing pools. Thankfully there was nobody else here. I really didn't feel like talking to anyone.

I had been traveling by foot for almost a month now since I woke up in that Northern forest, where I had stared down that dragon, for me it felt like only moments had passed but for the world it had been two thousand years. Entire ages had come and gone in my absence.

But for my sister and my best friend barely a month had passed since I vanished. Technically speaking I was now five years older than my twin.

I ducked beneath the steaming water and scrubbed my face furiously , Argh , it was so confusing.

I lifted my head out of the water to see Thranduil standing by the pool slowly removing his clothes. He turned towards me and gave a small smile, "I brought you some fresh clothes."

He finished stripping and slid into the pool, I couldn't help but stare at the scar , that went down part of his face down his neck and across his shoulder and arm.

He gave me another sheepish smile, "I imagine you want to be alone but I remembered that you always had difficulty washing your hair by yourself. "

I looked to my long hair swirling around me in the pool. He was right. After two thousand years he still remembered something little like that. Butterflies danced in my stomach and I couldn't help but return his small smile.

I handed him the bottle of shampoo from the side of the pool ," Here you go. I assume you still remember how I like my hair washed."

He chuckled, " You growled at me everytime you said I did it wrong, and Eru preserve me, but you were ten times worse when you were pregnant."

I playfully splashed his face , "Yes, well imagine you having to carry our son for eight months and having him kick you in the lungs and sit on your bladder, you would be grumpy too."

Thranduil simply shrugged and dumped the shampoo on his hands and began working it into my scalp, picking out bits of twigs and leaves as he went.

An uncomfortable silence fell between us. Finally I couldn't keep the words from pouring out. "Thranduil, when I died, why did you stop living?"

His hands stopped his ministrations ,I could hear him take a sharp breath behind me, "I guess, I forgot how to. You were my everything and even though I had Legolas it was like...there wasn't anything left to live for without you. So I..gave up, for many years, I became like my father , cold, calculating, living each day in a wine bottle. "

I turned towards my husband, placing my hand against the ruined side of his face, "I'm back now, it is up to you to prove to me that you are still the Thranduil I married."

Thranduil pressed his forehead against mine, "I promise."

"Good." I said pulling back and ducking beneath the water to rinse out the shampoo , hopping out of the bathing pool I instantly dry myself with a puff of warm air.

Wrapping myself in a towel I turn to see Thranduil staring at me with a pout on his face. "Don't give me that look beloved. I promise you my undivided attention this evening but first we must meet with Rhoswyn, Idwal and Meldiron. Eru sent me back for a reason. And you won't like it."

A/N: Okay folks, starting with next chapter we are getting into the second part of this story and it's gonna be a doozy.

Also, I know I promised cutesy ThranWyn moments but let Caerwyn be pissed at Thranduil for a bit. She needs to cope with having two different sets of memories of Thranduil , where he is in essence two different people and the memories are crashing together. Also there was the fact that she was dead and then not dead. That kinda rattles people's brains a bit.

Also FYI when she talks about her best friend she is referring to Idwal.

Also just in case I never mention it in upcoming chapters Celediel sailed for Valinor after Legolas reached adulthood. She totally raised him, with the help of Mistress Briala.
And in my mind, Tauriel sought out Kili's  mother and currently lives in the Blue mountains with her kin.

Yep, that's about it. Thanks for being awesome readers!
