During the next few days, I found myself explaining to several people from all houses what had happened after the feast and what house I had been put in. It seemed as though I had become quite the chat around the school and some people from the Slytherin house had started calling me "the homeless girl".

Most of the time I was hanging out with Neville, Harry, Ron, and Hermione although they had soon began to busy themselves and I hadn't seen them often outside of class.

Classes were mostly fine, potions being my favorite subject surprisingly since I had Professor Snape as a teacher and he seemed to make it his mission to make life miserable for anyone who wasn't in Slytherin. He however seemed to take it easy on me as soon as he realized I was one of the best students in his class.

My least favorite subject was History of Magic in which I commonly found myself asleep within the first 10 minutes.

As potions finished one day I was packing my stuff to leave when Professor snape called for me and Draco Malfoy to stay behind. I shot a confused glance at Neville, he shrugged before saying "I'll wait for you in the great hall." I nodded.

I approached Snape's table as did Malfoy and Snape soon began "You too have shown fantastic results in my class. Now, I want you both to be taking advanced classed with me on Wednesdays after class." he said sternly not looking up at us but staring instead at his desk where he was writing on a piece of parchment.

"Uhmm-" I started.

Malfoy interrupted, "Thank you for the offer Professor but I'm not interested in more classes." with a smirk across his face.

Snape stood up and looked straight into Dracos eyes making his smirk disappear "I was not asking Mr. Malfoy it would be extremely stupid to waste such opportunities, I'm sure your father will agree." He replied accentuating every single word. Malfoy nodded quietly as I tried to hold back a snicker.

Snape then turned to look at me "Any protests from you Miss y/l/n?" I shook my head. "Very well, I shall be informing your head of houses about this. You are both dismissed." He finished, sitting back down on his desk.

Malfoy and I walked quietly out of the classroom. We were walking towards the great hall in awkward silence.

"I'm y/n by the way," I said, breaking the silence.

"Yes, the homeless girl. A friend of Potter are you?" he asked condescendingly.

"Uhmm yeah" I replied confused at his tone.

He scoffed with a disgusted expression on his face. He stopped and walked up to me causing my back to hit the wall, our bodies only inches apart. "We might be having classes together but I don't associate myself with people like you," he spat, eyeing me up and down with disgust in his eyes then continued walking.

I huffed. "Excuse me!" I said loudly walking up to him this time and making his back hit the wall. "Listen, you might be able to get away with speaking to other people like this but not me Malfoy! Just because you're some rich boy whose daddy can buy his way into anything and anyone doesn't give you the right to go around picking on people for their status." I didn't stutter.

"I beg your pardon," he said in shock, obviously not expecting me to talk back.

"that's ok," I replied with a smirk on my face before walking away not allowing him to say anything more, simply feeling his stare as I walked away.

I walked into the great hall and was looking for Neville on the Gryffindor table, he stood up and signaled at an empty seat next to him. I smiled at him as I walked towards him. I sat next to him and in front of us were Dean and Seamus.

"So what happened?" Neville was curious.

"Oh yeah, well turns out I have to take advanced potions with Malfoy on Wednesdays after class. Not optional." I rolled my eyes as I reached for some food in front of me.

"I mean at least your good at something y/n I'm already failing half of the classes and we've only just started," Neville shrugged.

I patted his back. Dean, Seamus, Neville, and I continued chatting when the hall suddenly went silent as professor Quirrel ran into the great hall screaming.

"TROLL, IN THE DUNGEONS! just thought you ought to know." He screamed before collapsing on the floor.

Everyone around me immediately panicked getting up and running towards the exit. I sat there confused for a while but before I could get up myself Dumbledore gave out instructions.

Gryffindors were told to follow Percy out of the hall to the common room. I was walking out of the great hall with Neville, Seamus, and Dean trying to squeeze past all of the shuffling, panicked bodies.

I then remembered that I hadn't seen Ron, Harry, or Hermione and stooped on the spot, got on my tippy toes, and tried looking around for them. Just then one of the shuffling bodies pushed me against a wall causing me to fall.

I tried to get back up which I soon realized was impossible as every time I tried pushing myself off the floor I was stomped back down repeatedly. I gave up after several attempts and instead resorted to shielding my head as best as possible with my hands and trying to control my panicked breathing.

"y/l/n!" I heard someone yell. I looked up and saw as bodies were shoved off me and then saw as two arms reached out for me pulling me up.

I looked up almost teary-eyed into a pair of grey eyes, which soon disappeared along with the rest of the students. I then felt a hand grab my arm and pull me along.

"y/n where were you? C'mon, we have to go." I heard Seamus, who was now grabbing my hand tightly and dragging me along with the rest of the Gryffindors.

Soon enough we were in the Gryffindor common room, all gathered around the couches and tables waiting for further information. Neville and I were particularly nervous about the whereabouts of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

I kept twiddling my thumbs and groaning every once in a while from the pain I felt on my back from the stomps I had received earlier. I was busy staring down at my thumbs when I felt a pair of large hands grab them.

"They're ok y/n there's no need to worry," Seamus said softly as he took my hands in his.

I looked into his eyes and forced a smile. "you're right, I'm probably just overthinking this, right?" I was unconvinced.

Seamus stood up and hugged me "They'll be back soon, you'll see."

I quite enjoyed the warm embrace from Seamus, it made me feel safer and secure. We stayed in this position for a couple of minutes before Percy forced us all to go to our separate dorm rooms and call it a night.

**Time skip**

The story of how Harry and Ron had fought the troll in the girl's bathroom and saved Hermione circled around the school for a couple of days after that night. These past few days I had also grown closer to Seamus which was something I was pleasantly surprised by.

The next Wednesday after DADA I reluctantly made my way to the dungeons for Advanced potions. I was quite early so I didn't expect anyone to be there when I walked into the classroom, but Draco was sitting at a desk at the front, he didn't react to me coming in.

I quietly made my way to another desk at the front and I could see Draco in my peripheral view shuffling on his seat.

"Hey, I wanted to thank you for helping me the other night," I broke the silence.

"Whatever, I... I wasn't helping you, you....you......were just in my way," Draco said annoyed not looking up from his desk.

I giggled listening to his excuses and then looked back to the books in front of me.
