With the world in the ending throes of a cold war so old not even books remember a time before the war. Tension remains high in the royal families of each species and Logan, a human spy with more of an open mind than most, finds himself caught up in a sticky situation. After befriending and forging a special bond with the small but mighty dragon Hjan, where he merges souls with the small dragon, Logan finds himself questioning his views on life. By sheer fate Logan and Hjan stumble upon a sanctuary hidden away from the world where dragons elfs and dwarfs can escape from the paranoia of the cold war above. Logan, despite being human which were seen as scum to the rest of the world, was warmly greeted and treated with insurmountable kindness and comfort from the dragons, something of which he had long forgotten the warmth of, and something that he was taught dragons didn't know how to give. Challenging his own belief Logan is faced with a dilemma, stay where he knows it's safe? Or does he return to the human kingdom where he'll be used as a pawn in their games. On top of all of that he has Hjan he needs to worry about too, he knows she'll go anywhere he'll go and the human kingdom won't accept her. Protect Hjan and stay where its safe, resting from the war he's been in all his life? Or return to the war and continue his part to end it, risking the life of Hjan in the process?
