[Chapter 26]

I didn't know what to wear for bed. I didn't want to look like a bum in front of Soda but I didn't want to dress too provocative either. Mother raised me better than that.

Then again I haven't necessarily been living by my mothers expectations as of late.

Why am I thinking so hard about this anyways? It's not like anything's set in stone about tonight. Soda's just here to babysit after all. I shouldn't expect anything to happen between him and I.

Settling on my pink nightgown I decided to wait for Soda in the living room since Steve never mentioned what time he'd get here.

I wasn't sure how long I had waited there as I soon enough found myself pacing around the room, glancing out the window every so often hoping I'd see his car pull in. I was just so excited to see him I couldn't help but wait like a dog.

After what felt like forever, but in all actuality it was more so 5 to 6 minutes, Soda had finally arrived.

"Well don't you look cute in that dress. I hope I didn't leave you waiting too long. Did you eat yet? I grabbed us a pizza on my way here."

'You didn't leave me waiting long at all,' Is what I should've said. What I actually told him was, "Took you long enough! You know, it's not nice to keep a girl waiting."

"I'm sorry, kitten." He apologized as he placed the pizza box down at the kitchen table. "Can I still get a kiss?"

I took hold of him by grabbing onto his shoulders. "I guess I can forgive you this one time." Planting a quick one on his cheek he smiled down at me lovingly.

"I'll go grab some plates so we can start this night off right. You just sit your pretty little self down at the sofa and find something for us to watch, darlin'."

After finishing up our food we were now comfortably snuggled up together as we watched re-runs of the flintstones. "How do you think Bamm-Bamm came out with white hair? You don't think Betty was into some funny business do you?"

"Cordy, sweetheart. Bamm-bamm was adopted. Remember?"

"No. To be honest this is my first time watching the show." I admitted.

"Really?" He sounded to be in disbelief.

"I was too busy to watch cartoons when I was younger. Busy with my flute practice,  studies, and all the other things my parents had me do in my youth."

"That's kind of, no scratch that, that's just plain sad."

"It's wasn't so bad. I'm skilled in lots of things now." I couldn't help but gloat a bit.

"Yet they didn't see cookin' important enough to teach you?" He teased with a damn cocky grin.

"Let me clarify. I'm skilled in things that make them look better when comparing their daughter's achievements with their friends kids." That is, unless they were trying to find me a future partner, which reminds me. . ."Now that we're on the topic of my parents, there's actually something I should tell you about."

His face had quickly changed expressions to that of concern and worry. "Did somethin' happen?"

"I think it's best if I just show you. Wait right here, I need to go grab something from my room." Leaving him in the living room I searched my room having forgotten where I had left the damn thing.

Finding the letter in the trash, crumpled into a ball I had then brought it back for Soda to read. As he read, judging by his expression he didn't look all too happy with its contents. "They wanna set you up with someone?"
