ascending - chapter 30 part 1

'Hayley. No.'

Astrid had called Hayley from the clocktower, knowing the Labonair all to well. 'Astrid it's my daughter I can't just sit here.' Hayley was out in the Bayou still, arranging the alphas that arrived to bare witness to the wedding. 'Hayley it's six hours away and Finn is already there. Elijah would never let anything happen to her today.'

'What am I supposed to do?' Hayley's voice quietened down and Astrid's did too, 'Help build the army that will keep her safe tomorrow.'

'I'm scared, Astrid. I need her with me.' Hayley admitted and Astrid nodded, 'I know love. I know. And she will be very soon. Nothing is going to happen to her, our family won't let it.'

When the women got off the phone, Klaus smiled at her. 'What?' She asked and he replied with a genuine 'Thank you.'

'Cami's not answering.' Rebekah spoke from the top of the stairs and Astrid replied, 'Elijah will protect them.

Klaus was concerned for his brother, 'Finn is channeling both our parents. He's too strong. We need to find a way to sever his link to them! How do we do that?'

'I can't sever the link.' Kol looked deep in thought before looking at Astrid and pulling her out of the room, trusting her witch knowledge. 'I could override the connection between Finn and my parents but I'd need to channel something.' He whispered and she realised why he pulled her away. Astrid sighed, 'You think Nik won't trust you?'

'Pretty much. It's the only way I can break it.'

'He will, Kol. I'll make bloody sure of it and even then - it's his daughter at stake here.' Astrid walked back into the room and Kol followed her.

'But there is something we can try. It'll take power of our own. And a lot of it'

Klaus looked at Astrid confused and she nodded discreetly, as if she was telling him his brother could be trusted.

Mikaelson Safehouse.

Finn had Elijah cornered in the farmhouse but that didn't stop him from making comments with his back facing his brother, 'Cowering behind your witchcraft? You always were pathetic, Finn.'

'After nearly a millennium of dishonorable acts hidden away in your own mind, you have the audacity to call me names? Ha! What I do now, I do for the members of my family who can still be saved. Unfortunately, neither you nor Niklaus and Astrid managed to make that list.' Finn smiled before telekinetically throwing a pick axe into Elijah's back. He turned around, desperately trying to pull it out but it was too late.

Finn launched the handle of a shovel into his heart and as he fell to the floor desiccated, the eldest brother made his way to his niece.

Lafayette Cemetery.

'We can't get in without Finn's blood.'

'Well, how do we disrupt Finn from channeling our parents in there if we can't even get through the bloody binding circle?' Rebekah cursed and looked between Kol and Astrid who was leaning on the opposite wall. 'We aren't here to disrupt it. We're here to overload it.'

'Are you daft? You want to make him stronger?'

'Look, a witch can only ever channel so much power. After that, things start to get ugly. I mean, they'll literally start to disintegrate from the inside. He'll either have to release the power, or, well... let it kill him.' Kol explained and Rebekah screwed her face up, 'But, he won't be dead, he'll just body-jump.'

'Wait for it, Bekah.'

Kol smiled at the glint in Astrid's eye, 'Yes, into a body three hundred miles away from the niece he's trying to 'nap.' The young Mikaelson looked hopeful that his sister would approve and Rebekah relaxed, 'In case you're wondering, this is the side of you I like.'

Astrid watched as Nik arrived with a bag of dark objects that he could channel, 'Did you get me what I asked for?' Kol questioned and Klaus nodded. 'Mystical artifacts and dark objects galore, from my own personal collection garnered over a thousand years.' As he pulled out some examples, Astrid recognised some of them as the Devil's star that took down Monique the day they saved Hope and the shackles they used on Finn to stop him from using magic.

'I wondered where this had gone! Half this stuff is mine!' Kol looked up at him from the bag and Astrid laughed at the brotherly argument. 'There's more.' Klaus pulled out two more weapons, the first being the blade that Finn used to subdue the Original parents and the second being the white oak stake. Astrid's shoulders relaxed, knowing the brother's were getting along.

'You're going to trust me with this?' Kol's jaw hung agape in surprise. 'Whatever you need.' The hybrid smiled, 'Whatever it takes.' He put the weapon in his hands.

The Bayou.

Finn Mikaelson had indeed left a parting gift with the vampires, another hunger spell. Before going for his niece, he drove them out to the Bayou while they were still unconscious and planted them near the area where the Alpha's were revoking their roles to join the Crescent Pack. Jackson's grandmother, the Elder Mary was conducting the ceremony, 'After the anointing of the Alphas, will be the final seal of our...'

The old woman stopped as the vampires gathered around the wolves, attempting one last time to quell their hunger. 'Gia, you don't have to do this.' Jackson tried to come between her and one of the Alphas with his arms out but her vampire veins grew and she growled, 'I'm sorry, but I do.' before descending upon them.

Mikaelson Safehouse.

Finn entered the house and noticed the amount of children's toys strewn around the place, smiling and thinking he'd won. As he walked down the hallway, he saw Cami's jumper thrown across a chair.

'Where are you, Camille?!'

Elijah awoke in the farmhouse and heard Finn's shouting straight away, pulling the shovel out of him. He stood up and went to face his brother.

The two siblings were clearly struggling and Astrid noticed before Klaus did, Rebekah's face was contorted in pain and Kol's hex was getting the better of him. They jumped back suddenly and Kol began coughing violently, Astrid ran to his aid. 'Kol!' She freaked out.

'Oh, we're close! We just need something to put it over the top.' Rebekah cursed and Astrid looked at Nik with a thought and he realised what she was thinking. 'Take me. I am a vampire-werewolf hybrid with ten centuries of blood on my hands. Channel me.' He volunteered and both of the siblings looked puzzled.

'No, Nik...' Kol shook his head, still perplexed at his brothers change of heart and Astrid's heart was bursting at the seams, standing next to her husband proudly, 'And me. Two original murderous hybrids are better then one.'

'You wanted my trust, brother. Here it is.' Klaus smiled and Kol got the dagger out that Finn used on his parents. Choosing Astrid first, he turned to her and she stopped him before he spoke, 'I know how this thing works.' She knelt on the ground in front of him and Nik gulped as the symbol was carved into her forehead and when she dessicated, Kol laid Astrid down. Once Klaus had his turn, the husband and wife laid side by side and the two witches started up again.
