My alarm went off on my cellphone letting me know it was time to wake up for my afternoon jog. I had skipped school today because I couldn't even get out of bed. My depression and anxiety was too overwhelming to make it there on time.

I had lied and told Pouty, Ria and Raneah that I was sick, but there's only so many times you can tell your friends that before they start to suspect something. Hopefully that day is far in the future.

Pouty was calling. I looked at the time. We were probably in lunch or the class before it by this time. At least, I usually was. I answered, laying back down and getting under the covers. I already knew she wanted to FaceTime.

"Hey," I said, answering in a groggy voice.

"How ya feelin?" she asked gently. The loud cafeteria nearly drowned out her delicate voice. Pouty and I were one of the same shell. We were both quiet and soft spoken, didn't talk a lot. Heavy introverts. The only difference is that she's just so beautiful- that type of beauty speaks for itself.

"A little sick still." I searched for the best lie. "I'm going to go out for a walk and see if that clears up my nose and stuff. I'm getting a tension headache," I lied smoothly.

"Well, feel better. I'll get all of your work and take it to you after school," she promised me. We lived in the same apartment complex, Pouty was never too far.

"Tell Raneah and Ariana I said hey," I said. "Ight. I'm not sitting with them today though, I'm going to try and eat at the library."

"Have fun, and see if you can find that book for me," I said with a warm smile. We had been searching for this dystopian novel for months and whoever had kept it on hold or had it under their clothes at home finally returned it.

"I'll look and see, but two heads is always better than one. I hope you can come tomorrow," she said in a hopeful tone.

"Me too," I agreed sadly, looking out my window to my high school not that far away.

"If you ever need to talk, Anaela.." she trailed off. "I'm fine. Just sick," I said in my most convincing way. "I gotta go, tryna sneak past the admins."

"Bye," I said softly.

"Bye."

After my jog I came back home sweaty and tired. School was about to be let out, I had spent way too much time out there than I had planned. It was a good workout though. I checked my phone, seeing texts from Ria and Raneah. I assured everyone that I was fine and went off to my shower.
