Chapter 59: Sophie POV

"Keefe!" I screamed.  I grabbed him before he hit the ground.

What was happening?

Was it his mother?

I stared at his eyelids, waiting for them to reopen.

"Keefe!" I screamed again.  I carefully laid him on the couch and shook him gently. "Why did he faint?"

Biana came up behind me and put a caring hand on my shoulder. "All the drama of seeing his mother must have been too much."

I looked down at the floor before answering, "I hope that's all it is."

A single tear slipped down my cheek.

I knew it was more than seeing him lying there motionless...

That tear was full of sorrow for the both of us.

All the pain his mother brought.

All the stress from the Neverseen--and now the Remember Refugees.

All the heartbreak both of them had experienced.

Me when I was twelve, and Keefe...

His entire life.

I wiped my tears away and looked back at Keefe's still face.

It was somehow frozen in peace.

Like he was in his happy place.

His expression scared me more than I wanted to admit.

"Keefe?" I called quietly.

A smile appeared on the boy's face, which quickly turned into a smirk. "Did you miss me, Foster?" he questioned.

I gasped and pushed my face away from his, folding my arms tightly against my chest. "You scared me--us," I told him. "Why did you do that?"

Keefe's smile faded, and he turned away from my tearstained face.

"I'm sorry," he replied quietly.

I jumped forward, wrapping my arms around his neck. "I'm here for you, Keefe," I whispered. "Don't you ever forget it."

A/N Bit of a short chapter, but I got in a little bit of Sokeefe! Not enough to fully satisfy, but I got it in! I hope you enjoyed and don't forget to comment -->
