"I'm sorry," I laughed nervously. "All these people must be getting to his head."

I grabbed Asher's arm and dragged him out of there.

"Oh, so now you decide to pay attention to me?" he asked, fuming.

"Yeah, well, just because I didn't pay attention to you doesn't mean you have to lie to get attention," I said with the same attitude.

"But I didn't lie!! It's true! I did make an invisible drone!" Asher protested.

"No matter how good a technopath you are, that's impossible," I shot back.

I didn't believe him.

No one could do that...

Right?

"BUT I DID!! I'M NOT LYING!!" he yelled, causing all heads to turn our way.

I gritted my teeth.

He had gone too far.

"ASHER!!" I yelled at him, throwing him on the ground.

I then realized what I did.

"Asher! Wait!"

But he had already gone.

"What are you looking at?" I barked at the people staring at me.

Tears rolled down my face as I struggled to hold them back.

Audrey came rushing upstairs.

"What happened?" she asked, worried.

And so I told her everything.

"You know...maybe he actually did make one..." she replied once I had finished.

"How? Even the most talented technopaths have never succeeded in making one," I told her.

Just then, something whooshed above my head.

"What the-"

A drone appeared in front of my face.

"Ahhhhh!!!" I screamed.

Asher appeared in the crowd, pumping his fist in the air.

"It works!" he exclaimed.

I...

...had no words to say.

A huge group of elves crowded around Asher and his drone.

They all started asking him questions.

Audrey pushed past everyone to the front, dragging me with her.

"Asher..." my voice came out as a whisper. "I'm sorry."

To my surprise, he just laughed.

"It's okay, Bridget! This means that this gadget can help the Order of the Guardians...right?" he asked so genuinely.

I nodded, wiping away my tears.

Asher laughed again, clearly pleased with himself.

"I did it!" he cried, holding up his drone like it was Simba from 'The Lion King'.

"Yes you did!" Audrey cried as she picked him up and twirled him around.

I smiled at the scene.

"Wait--where are Sienna and Emma?" I asked.

"They went to their interview," Asher told me, rolling his eyes.

"Of course they did," I laughed as I rolled my eyes as well.

But being them, Sienna and Emma had a knack of getting into trouble...

And that's what made me believe they weren't at the interview.

I believe they had actually gone to save Sophie and Keefe...

But that thought led to another.

We were focusing so much on Sophie and Keefe...that we totally forgot that there were two more elves inside the healing hospital.

Olivia and Ruy...

Oh no.
