Your pov:

I walked down the narrow hallway of the Tiki Bar an turned the corner, dad sat at a bar in the other room.

We both walked over to him and took our seats, I didn't exactly know what to look forward to in this conversation, we were talking to Dad after all.

Small time skip*

The bartender set down a bottle of what smelt like cognac,
"Cognac?"
Dad asked us, guess I was right.
"Just a smidge"

Five told him
as dad poured him a glass of Cognac and hands it to him,
Dad looks over to me and I nod

"I could use some alcohol right now" I tell him and he gives me a glass as well.

"The other night you quoted Homer at me, why?"
Dad asks Five.

"You forced us all to learn it as kids, in original Greek no less"
Five tells him as he picks up his glass.

Soft Hawaiian sounding music played over the speaker at the bar as dad lifted his glass up in the air slightly, we both also left lifted are glasses and then took a sip of the alcoholic beverage.

I haven't had any alcohol since I came back from the Apocalypse, unless you count that one time that I picked up a water bottle and took a sip of it but really it was filled with vodka, that was probably Klaus's doing.

"This world ends in five days if we don't get out of the timeline "
Five tells dad as he sets his glass down.

"World's end, Paleozoic, Jurassic and so on"
Dad tells us,
"We can do something about this one"
I tell dad as I set my drink down.

"Man's greatest flaw :the illusion of control"
Dad states.

"We need your help, you're our last sane option, otherwise we got to make a deal that we really don't want to make"
Five tells him.

"What do you do about time travel?"
Five asks him,
"In theory?"
Dad questions,
"In practice"
Five responds.

"I know it's akin to descending blindly into the depth of freezing waters and reappearing-"
Dad begins,
"As an acorn, yeah"
Five finishes.

"What transpired when you when you tried traveling before?"
Dad asks Five,
"I botched it"
Five tells him.

"How?"
Dad questions him,
"I jumped to far forward, got stuck in the future for 45 years in an apocalypse, brought her with me"
Five nods his head in my direction as he speaks.

"Then I jumped too far backwards....... except this time I brought my entire family with me"
Five tells him.

"Well maybe your appetite is disproportionate it to the size of your abilities"
Dad suggested to him.

"Start small, seconds not decades"
He tells Five,
"Seconds? Look no offense but I need a bit more time for what I'm trying to accomplish"
Five tells him.

"So much can change in a matter of seconds, one could overthrow an empire, one could fall on love"
Dad explains to us.

"An acorn doesn't become an oak overnight"
He states and Five sighs slightly,
"I was really hoping you had more than that"
Five tells him.

"I'm sorry I can't be of more help"
Dad tells us,
"I'm sorry too, I gave you such a hard time as a kid, I didn't know any better"

"Hmm, no skin off my teeth, old man"
Dad tells Five as he picks up his glass and takes a drink.
