"Hey, Paarthy!" Marinette ran towards the old dragon. Paarthurnax turned, smiling his usual relaxed smile. His soft, grandfatherly voice rumbled in her ears.
"Marinette! What brings you here?"
"Remember how you told me about a song?"
"Yes."
"Well, the school talent show is coming up in a few months."
"Oh! So you are planning to participate? What will you design?" He had seen some of the clothes Marinette had made, and he had to admit, he had seen few things more pleasing to the eye.
"No. Not this time. I wanted to ask if... if you might tell me the lyrics to The Song of the Dragonborn."
Paarthurnax thought for a bit.
"Yes. Yes I will."

Marinette looked over the sheet of paper Nino had handed her a few days later. On it were the lyrics.
Well, better get to studying now.
She ran all the way back home, plopped down onto her chaise, and started reading each line.
A month later...
"Papa! I got in! I'm gonna be in the school talent show!"
Tom turned just as his daughter tackled him in a hug. It was a common joke between him and his wife that Marinette seemed to be on a permanent sugar rush.
He scooped up his daughter in his large arms and hugged her back. "Congratulations, sweetheart!"
Marinette let go of him and dashed off to tell her mother, practically squealing with excitement.
