Marinette drew in a deep breath.
This was it.
"Girl, you're gonna be great!" Alya said reassuringly, patting her on the shoulder. "I can feel it!"
Paarthurnax shot her a look that screamed Don't you dare say anything about Adrien and make her panic and focused back on Marinette.
"Marinette, I assure you, it will be absolutely fine."
Marinette glanced at her friends. "How is it that a dragon that I've only known for a few months is more reassuring and less embarrassing than my human best friend of at least two years and my own parents?"
Paarthurnax shrugged. "Because I don't make up crazy schemes to get you and Adrien together and don't gush about your embarrassing - though admittedly cute - moments?"
Odahviing rolled his eyes. "Just go now. The talent show starts soon."
Marinette nodded and walked backstage.

When she stepped onstage and faced the audience, at first she froze like a deer on headlights.
Deep breaths, Mari. Deep breaths.
A few lungfuls of air were enough to take the edge off her anxiety, just in time for her act to begin.
And she sang.

She looked out over the crowd. Most seemed amazed, a few confused, but no one seemed to dislike it.

Marinette felt more confident now, and dropped her voice to just above a slightly raspy whisper.
