She stumbled along, tired. Miles away from her residence at the Curtis house. Stumbling along tired and worn out from running.

She walked into a 24/7 pharmacy and grabbed a blanket and some other things to make it through the night.

She was horrified she was gonna get caught by somebody. She left, she left for a reason and for that same reason she wasn't coming home.

It was Darry, he had lost his temper on Ponyboy and Y/n. He had flipped out and it scared her, reminding her of home. She picked up everything she had and left, only thinking of one thing. Her boyfriend.

She had only been gone for less than a day, scared if she returns, Darry'll he even more upset. He'll be even more mad and scary. She didn't want to take her chances so she stayed away.

She found a good empty spot in the sidewalk of a closed plaza. She set up a spot and tried to close her eyes when she saw somebody come and park. She was scared, so she picked up her stuff and got up to leave.

She quickly tried to run past the car, which the headlights had just shut off. But when she looked at it again, she noticed who's car it was.

She dropped everything she had and approached the window. Soon enough, Dallas swung the door open and jumped out and wrapped her in a hug. She looked at him and saw his tear stained face, red puffy eyes, swollen lips. She wiped a tear away and he stroked her cheek.

"Don't. Ever. Leave me again. Never." He swore. He was clenching his jaw as he said it and she nodded.

"Never." She said and hugged him again.

"D- don't tell the gang just yet. I'm afraid that Darry'll be even more-" She began to say and he shoved her into the car with her blankets.

"Goddamnit Y/n! This is all about Darry? He's worried sick about you! Do you know how stupid you are?" He said, slamming his hands down on the wheel. She snuggled into her blanket and flinched.

"Man- I'm sorry. I've just missed you- we've just missed you, kid. Come here." He wrapped her in a hug and kissed her head.

"I can't go home yet." She mumbled and snuggled up really close to his warmth.

"That's alright." He whispered.

"Dally?" She said, pulling her head up to look at him.

"Yes, love?" He responded, looking at her.

"I- I love you." She managed. He looked away for a moment and panic set in.

"If you don't love me, it's okay, I-" She began, but he cut her off with a kiss.

"I do." He said. She knew it was hard for him to say it, and she didn't want to force him to say it. She looked at him once more and put her head back down. She noticed him doze off to sleep, and so did she.

~~~
"Ah, shit, y/n, we fell asleep." He grumbled and woke her up. She woke up with a stir and looked around to the bright sky, and stores opening. She sat up and looked at him and he smiled at her, knowing she was home.
"Hello." He said to her, meeting her gaze.
"Hi," She said sweetly and he leaned in for another kiss. She felt herself melt into the kiss, wrap her arms around his neck.
"I missed you." He said as he pulled away.
"How are you gonna hide me?" She quickly asked and he looked out his window at the passing families.
"I'll just bring you back to Buck's, until you decide when you want to go home." He said and she stared at him. She nodded and he started the car and they were on their way to Buck's place
~~~

"Dally!" She exclaimed when he came home from the rodeo, she jumped on him and he held her and spun her around as they kissed.

"How've you been holding up? Still not been found?" He said as he put her down on the bed.

"So far so good." She said and he crawled on top of her and kissed her, but it was quickly interrupted.

"I've got a visitor-" Buck began, before he was pushed to the side by Sodapop.

"Dally, we gotta talk-" He started before he came to a stop realizing who Dally was currently on top of. Dally nonchalantly got off and walked over to Sodapop and whispered something, something she couldn't hear.

"Don't tell a soul that she's here. She don't want to come home yet."

"How long have you been here? Are you crazy?" He yelled.

"I've only been here for three days!" She yelled back and he rolled his eyes.

"Three days? We've been searching for you like crazy!"

"I found her in the plaza. She looked awful and she told me she didn't want to come home yet." Dally interrupted, obviously trying to keep up his reputation. She rolled her eyes.

"Wait till I tell Darry about this one! He'll make sure you guys are split up for good!" He exclaimed and Dally pushed him against a wall. She didn't like to see people in the gang fighting, so she tried to break it up.

"You won't tell Darry!" Dally yelled.

"Break it up!" She yelled and pushed Dally off of him.

"Fine! But I sure as hell won't be keeping this in for more than a week. You got that? Please come home. We need you!"

"Fine- Soda just leave. I miss you too." She said and hugged him and he squeezed her.

"Come home." He whispered and she nodded.

He left and she looked at Dally.

"Don't get that look on your face." She said and she kissed him like she'd never kissed him before.

~~~
"You ready?" Dally said as they approached the door.
"Not really." She said and pushed open the door. Everybody stared at her in disbelief and wrapped her up in a group hug.
"Don't ever do that again!" They all said. When they let go she laughed and they all jumped around with excitement, but she went back to Dally for comfort.
"I was worried sick." Darry said and messed up her hair.
"I'm sorry Darry." She said and let go of Dallas and hugged her older brother figure. She really did miss them.
She immediately went back to Dallas's side and Darry looked at him. "Has she been with you?"
"Yeah." He replied.
"Damn you for not telling us, and thank you for keeping her safe."
Darry walked away with the rest of the gang as they cheered for her arrival and she looked at Dally.
"I still love you." She said and he smiled.
"Me too." And she gave him a quick peck and walked to the couch. She was home!
