I walked through the field behind her house. The rest of the lights were out except that one tiny little light in her bedroom. The purple light was on.

The purple light meant she needed help, and now. She never had the purple light on. I ran to the window and knocked on it, but she didn't answer. I slammed on it but she still didn't answer. I panicked but I ran through the front door. Her father was gonna wake up but I didn't care.

I slammed the door open and she was on the floor sobbing, she stood up and I hugged her and she fell to the floor again and I went with her.

"Everything hurts!" She sobbed and I tried to keep her quiet but I saw the light in her dad's bedroom turn on. She hid in a ball in my arms and cried out.

I frantically checked her for blood but she was clean. She was just hurt. "Calm down your dad is gonna come soon," I whispered and she shook her head. Her dad soon opened his bedroom door and walked into her room and looked at us. I put my finger to my lips indicating to be quiet.

"Are you okay?" I whispered to her, "The gang and all of your friends were asking why they haven't heard from you in a couple weeks."

"Everybody ignores me or my fucking problems, everybody expects me to care about them when nobody fucking cares about me." She said, "And I couldn't say something because it's fucking selfish."

"It's not selfish." I said and she shook her head. "They made me think that. I just wish everything would just.... stop." Her voice broke when she said stop, it was so soft and weak I could barely hear her. I looked at her dad. He crossed his arms and stood for a minute before leaving us alone.

"Hold on a little longer for me, please?" I whispered and she weakly nodded and curled up more. I held her closely to my body and rested my chin on her messy hair.

"I'm not okay, I've never been okay, and you haven't even noticed either." She said and I opened my mouth to say something but I just couldn't.

"I just want it to end." She whispered. "I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner." I said and she looked at me. She looked sick, and tired, and sad. I knew this look, I stared at it everyday in the mirror. I put my hands on both of her cheeks and she looked down.

"Promise me it will go away," She begged, quietly. "Only if you promise to stay here with me." I told her and she nodded and hid again and I wrapped my arms around her head. She kept her promise. She kept her promise forever.
