A/N: the concept for this is like, Dally and y/n aren't in a super serious relationship, but she needs support and Dally really shows how much he cares about her.
Modern. She stumbled up to the house, her eyes numb and tears spilling freely. She looked pale, sick, and scared. All the boys were at the house for the monthly 'boys night' and she felt guilty intruding in on it but she had no where else to go.
She hesitated and knocked on the door aggressively so they'd hear her. She waited a couple seconds before Darry swung open the door laughing. As soon as he saw her face, his smile dropped and he pulled her inside from the below freezing temperatures she was in.
"I'm sorry guys I don't want to interrupt your night I should just go-" She began before everybody shot up from their seats and looked at her.
"No. You're staying here." Steve interrupted her guilty apology and everyone agreed with him.
"Why were you out walking in the freezing weather? Are you stupid or something?" Dally spoke as he grabbed a blanket from Ponyboy and Sodapop's room and wrapped it around her shoulders.
"Dally be nice." Darry said as he shot him a glance. For Dallas being her boyfriend, sometimes he wasn't the nicest with his words.
"Y/n, why are you crying?" Ponyboy asked, putting a supportive hand on her shoulder.
"Guys, really, I shouldn't be here- you guys were having fun an-"
"We care about you more than a stupid board game, Y/n." Sodapop interrupted and she smiled a very weak, sad smile at him.
"What's wrong?" Johnny put his arm around her but Dally shot him a look and he backed off.
"M- my dad. I left- Darry, can I stay here for a while?" She asked and he smiled.
"That's a dumb question, of course you can."
"Thank you. I really do appreciate it. I'm- I'm gonna go get some water." She said and walked to the kitchen. Dallas followed her in and stood at the doorway, staring at her.
"Why didn't you ask to stay with me, Doll?" He said as she poured herself some water from the faucet.
"You never offered." She smiled at him and took a sip.
"You're always welcome." He said bluntly and she smiled at him again and thanked him.
"Now baby, tell me what's wrong. What do you mean you left?" He put out his cigarette and stepped closer to her and she sighed and fought back tears.
"Well, he said some stuff, it hurt like hell. So I grabbed my essentials and I came here." She said and he stared at the wall behind her with his jaw clenched.
"I'll kill the man I swear." He said and she smiled. She smiled because she didn't think he cared that much, he was just talking about how she was stupid.
"Please don't." She giggled and finished her water and walked out to the rest of the gang when she heard shouting. She walked out and found Darry on the phone with somebody- but with her phone. She forgot she set it down on the coffee table.
"No- you listen to me! She came here, in the freezing cold, telling me that you did something, and crying. And now you're here, demanding her to come home, spamming her phone! No, nope. I'm not listening to you anymore." He hung up the phone and handed it to her and she went back and looked at who he was calling.
Dad: 13 missed calls
Dad: Come home now.
Dad: I'll call the police if you don't come home.
Dad: You better not be with those hoods.
Dad: I said come home, y/n.
Dad: Pick up when I call you."I don't want to talk to him!" she yelled and threw her phone on the couch and ran into Dally's arms by instinct. She's never done this before and he hesitated as she hid her head in his torso and he wrapped his arms around her, awkwardly.
"Guys, we gotta do something." He said, getting less awkward with his touch and more comfortable, and protective.
"Don't do anything, it'll just make matters worse. Promise me you won't?" She said looking at him and he caught her gaze but looked away. She stepped away from him and sat down on the couch and hid her tears from everyone. Sodapop sat down and put an arm around her and rubbed her back for support.
"I'm sorry." She said and everybody groaned at the apology.
"Quit sayin' that, man! We don't care, we want to be here with you, for you!" Johnny said and everybody mumbled their agreements.
They all heard a slamming on the door and Darry looked around at everybody confused. He walked up and opened the door but immediately slammed it. Dallas looked at the door and then looked at her and his blood started to boil.
"Let me in!" She heard her dad yell.
"Pony, Johnny, Y/n, go into the boys' bedroom. Don't come out until I say so, okay?" Darry said delicately. She nodded and rushed to the bedroom and they all sat in a circle on the bed.
They all started to hear fighting, verbal fighting, but Ponyboy tried to distract her.
"So how's your relationship with Dally?" He asked, flinching when hearing shouting.
"It's nothing special. I just call him my boyfriend but we haven't really had any special moments yet." She responded. She went on dates with him, she's kissed him, she felt a connection with him like she wanted to stay with him for a long, long time, but it wasn't love, and he wasn't very affectionate. It kind of just felt like she was a label for him.
"He really likes you, y/n. He talks to me about you." Johnny said and she smiled. He talks about her?
Dally slipped into the room with a bruise and gash on his face and she jumped up.
"What happened to you?" She asked with fear in her eyes, it made him blush to see how much she cared. She lightly touched his wounds and he winced from pain but she grabbed a scarf and pressed it against it to stop the bleeding.
"Just got into a little fight, that's all." He said with a smirk and pulled her in. She was surprised by the sudden touch and he kissed her.
"Is he gone?" She asked when they pulled away.
"Won't ever come back, I can promise you that." He said and Johnny smiled with relief, so did she.
"Thank you." She whispered and he smiled.
She went out to the living room with a blanket and laid down on the couch. Dallas gave her a kiss on her cheek and left the house, going back to Buck's house.
As soon as she finally got a little tired, her phone started going off again. She looked at it, scared it was her father but it was somebody she'd much rather talk to.
Dal: I want to see you rn but I can't
Dal: I'll be over at 10, then I'll take you to the Dingo
You: sounds like a date:)
Dal: see you tomorrow ;)She went to bed smiling, knowing that he actually cares about her. Maybe this relationship is something.
