We hopped on the midnight train. It was so quiet and sad here, like somebody had died moments earlier.
I wrapped myself up and he put a tired arm around me. I closed my eyes while I felt them quickly getting heavier and heavier, but I heard somebody start to speak to us.
"I'm sorry for waking you dear, but you two remind me of me and my husband when we were young. God bless you both." An old woman said to us and I smiled and looked at him. He sat with a stone cold face.
He hugged me tighter when I started to shiver and I closed my eyes again. He was so warm all the time, and his arm was like a weighted blanket. I managed to weave my fingers between his and I fell asleep.
I woke up in the morning to his face resting in my hair and I pushed on his stomach. We looked around and he smiled at me. "Good morning." He said groggily and kissed me so lightly.
We looked at the sign for the stop and we had woken up just in the nick of time. I grabbed my bags and managed my way off. He followed closely behind and we saw the gang waiting for us. I dropped my bags and ran up to Darry, who was like my big brother. Dally walked to Johnny and patted his head and said hi to the rest of the gang.
I let go and walked and grabbed my bags again. Sodapop looked us up and down and smirked. "You guys look rough."
I chuckled and pushed passed him. I loaded my stuff into Darry truck and smiled. "Glad to be back, boys."
