A/N: family series
ModernShe walked in and grabbed her son and sat in the rocking chair and began to cry. "Owen, please, go to bed." She sobbed and he began to quiet down. She rocked him and sobbed.
Her son was so precious and small and he was by far one of the cutest she'd had, but he was much more work than Natalie and Adeline. She had already been going through much more stress ever since Dally got laid off and the girls went to school. She had to pick up more hours on top of taking care of her son who'd never sleep.
Dally came into the room and sat on the floor in front of her when he saw her on the baby monitor crying. "Baby, what's wrong?" He asked softly and she shook her head and looked at Owen who was sleeping now. She brought him back to his crib and walked into the living room. Dally followed her and she curled up.
"Why does life have to be so difficult? I'm only 30." She cried and he sat down next to her. "I mean, imagine how different our lives would be if Addy wasn't born? I love her, and I'd never trade anything for her, but sometimes I just look back and think, where did I go wrong?"
"I do too sometimes." He said and rubbed her back. "And I'm happy that we settled down and got married but I miss the old you sometimes too."
"Trust me darling, I do too." Is all he had to say. She continued to sob into him. Like on queue, Owen started screaming. She wiped her tears and stood up but he pulled her back down. He got up and grabbed his son and quieted him down and she grabbed a monitor.
"Owen, sshh, you gotta stop." He said and rocked his screaming son. He sat down and grabbed a bottle and fed him and he quieted down. "You're really gonna drive mama insane." He whispered and Owen happily drank away.
"I don't know if I could save her this time, or even myself." He said and softly rubbed Owen's dirty-blonde hair. "I've gone back down, I need the meds."
She opened her mouth and got up and went into the room. Owen finished and he put him back in his crib. She hugged Dally and he took his turn crying. "I need help." He said and she nodded.
"We'll get you help." She whispered and comforted him. He was broken like she, and it was 4 am. "Dal, all of this happened because we got drunk and fucked on a pool table."
"I'd do it again." He said and I pulled away. "What? Fuck me on a pool table or have kids?" She laughed and he kissed her like he used to. "Both, baby." He growled in her ear and she felt the familiar butterflies she hadn't felt in 13 years.
"You know Dal, remember that? We did it to piss Buck off, and then when Natalie was conceived we did it to piss my boss off in your car, and then Owen, well he wasn't an accident." She recalled and he chuckled.
"Guess we never learned our lesson, did we?" He kissed her again and she wrapped her arms around his neck and he lifted her up and carried her back to bed. He hadn't done anything like this since Addy was born, and she missed and craved it so much.
