I pushed my way into Buck's house, knowing Dallas was here. Him and Buck were buddies, occasionally he'd let him stay a while. I didn't mind him despite his dirty house parties, which gave him a bad rep.
I tried for the stairs but Buck stopped me. "Hey- hey, where are you going?" He said and started nervously chuckling. "I'm assuming Dally's up there?" I said and he looked around.
"Haven't seen him, sorry. You should just get going, it's not a nice place for a girl like you to be here." He said and I stopped trying to push passed him and looked at him. "Girl like me?" I asked and he looked away nervously again.
"There's some dirty people in here, if they don't know who your b- boyfriend is then they might just be a little too persuasive." He said and I rolled my eyes and pushed him out of the way. I knew what room Dallas kept some clothes in, so I made my way up there. I saw somebody in the hall and once I reached the door they gave me a panicked look. I furrowed my brows and listened in on the door.
"Jesus Christ, you're so much better than my girl." I heard him say, and then another girl moaning, quite loudly. Fuck him. I stood there for a moment, decided whether or not to barge in there, but I decided not to. Instead, I just hurried down to the lot to talk with Johnny.
I tried so hard not to cry, I didn't want to. I was tuff, and tuff greasers can't cry. I concentrated on all the tiny rocks that I was passing under my feet, some kicked, some didn't. I did that until I recognized the grass patches and I looked up and saw Johnny in front of a fire.
"Hey y/n, what're you doing here so late?" He asked as I went to sit next to him on the abandoned car bench. "I could ask you the same thing." I said quietly and he looked at me.
"What happened?" He asked and I looked at him. "I heard Dally fucking some other chick in his room at Buck's. Heard him say 'You're so much better than my girl'. I knew I shoulda never gotten involved with a dirty hood like him." I said and I let a tear fall but Johnny didn't see it. He put an arm around me and I laid my head on his shoulder.
"Did you confront him?" He asked after a moment. "I came straight here." I responded and he nodded. I looked down and looked at the St. Christopher hanging from my neck. I tore it off and threw it next to the fire. It didn't fall in, it was a decent distance from it.
"Speaking of which," Johnny mumbled and I looked up and Dally was strolling along. He grinned at me and walked towards us. "Hey baby," He said and I looked away from him, trying not to cry.
He sat down next to me and tried to kiss me but I looked the other way and he caught my cheek. He looked at me weird and looked over at the fire and noticed the necklace.
"Why is my Christopher next to the fire?" He asked and stood up and grabbed it. I snuggled into Johnny and started sobbing and he hugged me. "What the hell is wrong?"
"We're over Dally, and that's that." I said, gritting my teeth and he got angry. "Why? What did I do?"
"I heard you hooking up with some broad like, 30 minutes ago! 'You're so much better than my girl' does that ring a bell?" I yelled and he stood there. "Listen, I'm sorry."
"No you're not, you're a fucking liar. If you were sorry it would have never happened in the first place." I said and he tried to push more, but eventually just stormed off. I looked at Johnny and he looked scared.
"I'm sorry Johnny I didn't mean to fight like your parents," I said and he only shook his head. "I just hate to see this end. You guys were made for each other."
