IB: Cold by Maroon 5 feat. Future
Context: Y/n is sick of Dallas changing his mind so much about their relationship.

"Can I just have some space? Please?" She heard him plead for the hundredth time in her own house.

"Are we gonna be taking time or a time out this time?" She said after a long, pushed over sigh.

"What the hell does that mean?" He asked, sitting at her counter, staring at the drying mugs next to the sink.

"You know how to fuck with me, Dallas. Acting like we're not together- kissing and fucking all of those girls. Even after everything we've been through." She scoffed after saying, rolling her eyes and turning around, heading for her bedroom.

He ran up and spun her around to look at her, staring at her. This time, she couldn't read what look he had in his eyes. It was a confusing mixing pot of anger, sadness, love, and jealousy.

"What do you mean?" He said, hardly could be considered a whisper.

"You're so distant. When we're kissing, when we're under the covers? I've never felt so far away from you. Baby. Tell me, how did you get so cold? Enough to chill my bones." He stared at her in disbelief. He knew why he was so cold and why he did what he did. It was all because he was scared to lose her so he thought if he acted like he didn't like her, she'd pine for him. But his mistake, he let in sometimes and showed his true colors.

"I-"

"It feels like I don't know you anymore. I don't understand why you're so cold to me? With every breath you breathe- I see there's something going on. I just don't understand why you're so cold."

"I'm just trying to hold on-" He said and tried to put his hand on her cheek but she resisted and turned away again.

"What are you holding on for? If you want to leave just leave!" She turned again to look at him once more and he said nothing. He couldn't say anything.

"What do you want to bite your tongue for? The silence is killing me!" She said, her voice raising each sentence, but he still stood there and couldn't say anything.

"If you don't want this, then what's the use, Dallas? I just want to know why you're so cold!" She finally built up to a yell and he flinched a tiny bit.

"I don't know how to love you, alright? I thought- if I made you jealous you'd come crawling to me- and I'd get you! Finally I'd have you!" He yelled and she shook her head.

"I'm already here! You already have me! You were too busy with your stupid plan that you didn't realize, it worked out a hell of a long time ago!" She slammed her bedroom door and he ran to it and slammed on it but she locked it.

"Just- go!" She yelled and he let a tear fall down his cheek and he stood for a second, not knowing what to do.

She heard his footsteps go away and she let out a sob at his departure, wishing he'd stay and not leave.

She dropped to her knees and started crying knowing she had lost the only thing she ever needed and wanted.

But she felt a hand on her back and she looked up at his face. She started crying harder and looked away.

"You know I hate it when you cry." He whispered and she shook her head.

"You know I hate it when you sneak in my window." She laughed a little and he brought her up from her knees.

"Can you- can you trust me? Can I try to be better for you?" He said and she nodded and hugged him tighter than she had ever hugged him.

"What did you mean by 'I don't know how to love you'? Do you love me?" She said and he opened his mouth to say something but he closed it again, afraid to say a three letter word. Yes.

"Because- I love you too." She whispered and he pulled her off of him and kissed her.
