You loved Chicago from the moment you first arrived. Your boyfriend introduced you to all his friends from the unit, Firehouse 51 and Med. You came tight with some of the girls, and you saw them as good friends. Leaving your home country, The Netherlands, wasn't easy at first. You struggled a lot with the language in the beginning. You knew English, but it wasn't your first language, so some things were hard. But you found your way. You couldn't work due to your visa, so you spent your time at Firehouse 51 helping out wherever you could. You needed something to do to pass the time, or otherwise, you would go crazy. Some days you were just playing games with the first responders, other days you helped with the cooking.

Right now, you were sitting on the bed with Sylvie in the firehouse, teaching her some dutch.

"So I want pizza is..?"

"Ik wil pizza."

"Yes!" You clapped your hands in excitement. You loved learning your friends Dutch. Sometimes the pronunciation would be horrible and so funny. Some of your friends even surprised you with how good they were.

"Y/N, Jay is here for you," Matt interrupted the two of you as he stood in the doorway. Jay was right behind him.

"Hey, didn't expect you here," you said as you got up from the bed and quickly kissed him.

"Yeah, busy case. We could use your help with it, though."

You frowned. "My help?"

"Yes. We have a suspect who is Dutch. He barely speaks English, and there is no translator available. So I thought maybe you could help?"

"Eh... sure. Let me grab my things and say goodbye." Just then, the alarm went off, and everyone needed to leave. You only said bye to Sylvie and Matt. You gathered your things and went to the 21st district with Jay.

"If you are ever uncomfortable with anything, just say the word, and I'll get you out. I'll be in there the whole time," Jay said.

"Okay. What is he in for?"

"We think he set a fire where a few people died."

"Okay then, let's do this."

Jay opened the door to the interrogation room. You sat down next to him on one of the chairs across from the suspect.

"This is Y/N, she will be the translator today," Jay started. You repeated what he said but in Dutch.

"Where were you last night between 11 pm and 3 am. Anyone who can confirm where you were?"

"Waar was je gisteravond tussen 11pm en 3am. Is er iemand die kan bevestigen waar je was?" The suspect started to talk to you in Dutch and explained everything to you.

"He said he was home with his girlfriend. They went to bed around 11.30 pm. You can check the security tapes from his house. He's pissed that you took him in for no reason. He has no idea why he's here," you told Jay.

For a few hours, you were translating the conversation between Jay and the suspect. It turned out he had nothing to do with it and that his alibi checked out.

"Thanks for doing this, Y/N," Voight thanked you as you were sitting in the break room, waiting for Jay to finish.

"No problem. It was kind of fun, actually. If you ever need a translator again, I'm just a call away."

"I'll keep that in mind."

Jay walked into the break room, interrupting your conversation. "Ready to go?"

"Yes!" you put your coffee cup away, said goodbye to the team, and went home.

"I have to confess, that was really fun. It was cool to see how you do things and where you work," you said as you were home.

"Yeah?"

"Yes! It was actually kinda hot." You looked up at Jay. Before you knew it, his lips were pressed against yours. This was going to be a fun night.
