UEM 05: Chironnas

I peeked at the cobalt sky with clouds rolling lazily on the horizon. The heat was scorching and I could feel my skin getting more sticky as I got closer to the mansion of Chironnas.

Why didn't they offer me a ride? I mean, they need me! They should've fetched me. Hindi lang kuneho ang dapat ipinadala. They have hundreds of carts I'm sure of it!

I wiped off the drops of sweat forming in the corner of my forehead using the back of my hand.

I took a long and deep breath before dragging my feet toward the huge and tall brick arch gate of the Chironna's mansion.

I have been here several times, but I couldn't help but feel like being new here the way the façade of their home amazes me every single time. It's not flashy. It's simple but elegant.

They are filthy rich. But the way they humble themselves is another thing that they should be praised for. I probably got close to Maori because she was raised in this kind of household. She has always been easy to be with although I admit that she can be so annoying sometimes.

I just don't get it why her twin sister is such a bitch. Is she cursed or what.

I was about to press the doorbell when the gate swung open and armed men in their white suits welcomed me. They all looked formal and reserved.

They didn't speak. One of them just made a gesture that I can now enter the premises.

I nodded lightly as my response and began to walk inside.

My system automatically conditioned me to be extra careful and behave now that I'm on someone else's property.

I swallowed hard as I felt my sweats turning cold. I could also feel my heart racing, feeling anxious about the mysterious reason why I was called here.

I'm sure they won't scold me about the showcase last night because Maori emphasized that she was able to attend it because of her sister.

I shook my head lightly to erase the thoughts that are poisoning my mind. Hindi naman siguro ito tungkol sa sindikato, hindi ba? Kung may kukumprontahin man sila, hindi ako 'yon.

Bakit ba iyon ang naiisip ko? I mean, I'm guilty but it's not like I'm the head of it!

I bit my lower lip to restore all the sanity that I'd lost for a short period of overthinking things.

When I reached the main courtyard, my lips parted in awe as I saw how beautiful the surroundings are. It looked so mu better than the entrance.

Butterflies in different colors and sizes were flying freely in the air. There were also some rabbits running and hopping back and forth on the green and soft grass around the yard.

It looked simple, but it's something you cannot spot in all households. It's healing, especially since I love butterflies.

I lifted my hand mid-air as I watched a light green butterfly rest on the back of my index finger. I couldn't help but smile as my mood suddenly turned good as I felt satisfied by its beauty in a closer look.

Someone called me which brought a slight startle in my body. My hand twitched and it made the gorgeous insect fly away from me.

I immediately turned my eyes to the front where I heard the voice. I smirked and rolled my eyes when I realized that it was her.

She looked fresh even though she was still in her night clothes. Mukhang kagigsing niyalang din.

"My parents are waiting for you upstairs! Let's go!" she cheerfully greeted and motioned to come to her.
