King for a Day- Pierce the Veil
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
It all started on a Sunday, a couple weeks after school started."Alex!"My mom called up to me. "Can you go get the mail? I forgot to get it yesterday."
"Sure, mom!"I yelled down. Walking down stairs, I saw my dad talking to my mom in a hushed voice. I could only make out a few words.
"Alex...protect...far...soon,"he said. What's that all about? It's probably nothing. I walked outside to get the mail. The air is hot and stuffy since it's August. I went over to the mail box and found a couple bills and a letter addressed to me. It didn't have a return address. I went back inside and set the bills down on the bench near the door and went to my room. Eager to open the letter, I closed my door and opened it carefully. There was a piece of folded in it. It looked like normal printer paper but when I unfolded it the ink was a shiny gold color. It read:
We found you. Your parents attempt to keep you safe have fail. Alex, I know were you live. There's no point in running. I'll always find you. I hope to see you soon, Sunshine.
Sunshine? This must be a prank. That's the only explanation. This I'd probably just Carter playing a prank on me.
Carter's my best friend. He's always been a prankster and a cocky player. This isn't funny. He's going to get it. I heard a knock on my door.
"It's time for dinner,"said my brother from the hallway. Nathan is my overprotective, caring, kind older brother. He is always there for me. If he sees this letter, he'll call the police and never let me out of the house. He's twenty (two years older than me).
"I'll be there in a sec,"I said, stuffing the letter into the bottom drawer of my desk and locking it.
Dinner went by fast because I was hungry. I'm not one of those girls who settles for salad and water. If I'm hungry, I can eat a cheeseburger in only a few minutes. I'm not chubby because I run. I'm not a stick figure either.
After dinner, I went to my room and called Carter.
"Hey,"he said.
"Don't hey me!"I exclaimed.
"Alex, calm the f*** down."
"Really? Really! That letter wasn't funny!!!"
"What do you mean?"Carter asked.
"Don't act all innocent,"I said, coldly.
"I'm sorry but I have no clue what you're talking about."
"The stalkerish letter you sent me,"I said.
"You should call the police,"Carter said, with a bit of hurt in his voice. "I swear I didn't send it. If I did, why would I tell you to call the police."
"Good point but I'm not calling the police or telling my parents. I don't want to move across the country. Maybe it was someone from the school pranking me."
"Maybe, I have to go, Alexandra. See you tomorrow."
I put my sweatpants and panda hoodie (pic above) and check twitter. Then brush my teeth and laid on my bed. A full Monday ahead of me.
