Chapter seventeen

Alex's P.O.V
"Well, um, we weren't giving up," My dad said. "The police were going to close the case today-"
"And say I was dead?" I asked, angrily. "Is that what you guys believed?"
"We didn't know what to believe, Honey," My mom said, honestly. "You were taken by viscous werewolves."
Just then Carter came in the door. When he saw me his face turned from grief to surprise to happy. He came up to hug me. I hugged him back.
"Can't breath," I said, my voice strained.
"Oops, sorry," He said, sheepishly. "I'm just so happy you're back. I was so worried."
I smiled at him but then frowned, thinking about what was said before.
"We need to tell her," Said Carter, sternly and glared at Declan.
"I agree," Said my dad. My mom gasped.
"You might want to sit down for this," Declan said, frowning.
"I think I'll tell her," Said my dad. My dad took a deep breath and let it go.
"You know how we're close to so many people?" He asked, deciding how to tell me.
"Yeah," I said, casually. "What about them?"
"They are werewolves. So are me, your mom, Nathan, Carter and Declan. We didn't tell you to keep you safe. You are a werewolf, you just can't shift. Something went wrong in your DNA and you didn't get the shifting gene. Right now, Nathan is at work. He doesn't have an internship at Dell. He works for the alpha, Carter's Father. We live away from the pack house, so you could have a normal life."
"What?!" I yelled. "I thought you guys hated werewolves. I thought our family was normal!" I left the room and went up stairs to my room. It looked the same as before. Do they really believe that I would he ok with this? Everything keeps happening. First, I get kidnapped by my mate. Then, I get threatened by his Beta and had to reject him. Then, I get home and my parents were going to give up on finding me. And now I learning that my whole family are werewolves.

Later that night, I was still in my room sitting on my bed. I feel like calling Adam but I know I can't do that to us. He probably hates me anyway. Only if he knew why. There was a knock at the door.

"Can I come in?" Asked Jake at my door.
"Yeah," I said, quietly. Company would be nice. Jacob came into my room and sat down with me.
"You've been in here all day," He stated. "It's not healthy. What's going on?"
"Didn't you hear?" I asked him. "All I've known all my life has been a lie. It's not fair. Why can't I have a normal life?"
"I used to ask the same question," Said Jacob, in a bittersweet tone. "It's not easy being a werewolf and hiding myself from humans. My family decided to blend in with the humans. But we can do things humans can't. Like hear things that humans can't and we have super strength. We're faster than humans. It must be hard for you, though. They were only keeping it from you for your safety."
"It didn't work that well," I retorted. "I can't stay mad at them forever though."
"Let's go downstairs," Jacob said, smiled then hugged me. "Your brother's home."
When I got downstairs, a familiar face met mine. My brother. He hugged me.

"We missed you so much," He said, not admitting that he missed me.
"You missed me the most," I laughed. "You look like a raccoon." He had dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep. He looked like he hadn't slept in days.
"I'm just so glad you're back," he laughed. "Who else would tell me I looked like a raccoon? I don't want to lose my baby sister." He sniffled. Awe, my older brother missed me. There was a cough from the corner of the room. I looked over to see Declan.
"Can I steal Alex for a minute?" He asked, smiling at me.
"Sure, but if you hurt her, you'll pay," Said Nathan, seriously.
"I'd never hurt Alex," Declan replied.
I went with Declan to the park right next to my house.
"Would you like to go on a date with me?" Asked Declan, looking into my eyes. He's so cute. Like a puppy.
"Of course, babe," I said smiling. Then he kissed me. Soon, I was kissing back.
