Welcome To The Family

Godt's mind is spinning. Kimmon's mother is overly kind and sweet, the type he is not used to. The mothers he knows are either overbearing and stubborn or spiteful and arrogant, his own mother being the latter.

His mind snaps back to reality when a loud clang echoes in the room. He looks down and sees the ceramic dishes having body-to-body contact. He blinks away his daydream and resumes washing the dishes.

"Godt, you know you're not obligated to do chores right? Mother would kill the maids," Krist leans on the door arch, his arms folded. "It's obvious how much she likes you."

Godt sighs and puts down the plate. He smiles apologetically at the kitchen maid standing at the corner of the kitchen. She comes forward and wais them both, taking over the washing. Both gentlemen left and her shoulder relaxes.

He surely is an interesting guest...

Godt follows Krist as they enter the greenhouse, surrounded by various flowers and plants. The air is cooler. Krist guides Godt to the table sitting at the centre, gesturing him to take a seat. Godt sits on one of the garden rattan chairs and observes his surroundings.

The light floral scent fills the air, not overly powering to his sensitive nostrils. Godt notices a lovely separation of flowers, ferns, and even a vegetable plantation in a corner. The leaves are newly watered, indicating the amount of love and devotion from their owner or owners.

"So, I'm sure you have questions?" Krist smiles, watching Godt's observation. The greenhouse has become his favourite space to be when he is at the palace. He was introduced shortly after he got married as a family heirloom.

He follows Godt's gaze to the vegetable plantation and beams happily. That addition to the greenhouse was his idea. This greenhouse was passed down from his grandfather-in-law as a memorial to his late wife who loved gardening. Since then, every member of the family is "required" to add a part of themselves as a welcoming ceremony to this family.

The structure and built shelves were implemented by the King, the Queen added her flair of decoration; from the stone steps to this centrepiece, Kimmon added his romantic mind with a field of white and yellow roses; with a few potted peonies and purple orchids, Singto brought in his love for ferns and imported plants - indicating they are just as beautiful as flowers, finally; Krist put in his little patch of vegetables.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Krist whispers. "This is my favourite part of the palace. During the weekends, we will all be in here, taking care of our little babies."

Godt smiles lovingly, thinking of Kimmon and his love for flowers. Those roses are definitely from him. Now, there is only one thing missing.

"It'll be your turn soon," Krist chuckles as if reading his mind. Godt turns to him in confusion. "When you enter this family, you will add a part of you to this greenhouse. It's a tradition."

Godt blinks, open his mouth to say something, pauses and closes them. He blinks again, earning a series of laughter from Krist. He frowns and smacks Krist.

"Come on! Why do you think P'Kimmon is introducing you to his parents? He's planning a future with you. It's given for all of us to prepare for your arrival sooner or later." Krist shoots Godt a smug look. "We are gonna be brothers!"

"There you guys are!"

Krist and Godt pause their conversation, seeing Kimmon and Singto walking up to them. Singto sits beside Krist and pulls him to his lap. No one misses the squeal from Krist followed by a pout. Kimmon laughs and rounds his arm around Godt's chair, standing behind him.

"So why are you both here?" Kimmon lovingly gazes down at Godt. Godt bites his lip to suppress his smile. Singto and Krist exchange a knowing smile.

"I was showing him the family heirloom. Godt visited last time but he didn't come here so I thought I'll show him this time. A bit of an introduction before he joins our family..." Krist smiles.

Kimmon glances shyly at Godt, feeling vulnerable and naked. He can probably guess Godt knows the flowers are planted by him. Flowers are always a safe spot for him but there are people with strong views that men should not like flowers.

"I mean... T-thanks, I guess..." Kimmon mumbles, avoiding everyone's gazes.

"Oh my god, I need to cleanse my eyes. My brother is being bashful and awkward..." Singto groans, covering his eyes with one hand. Krist slaps his shoulder with a frown. "Only joking, love." Singto smirks. "But seriously, I've never seen this in the last thirty years of knowing him. Take good care of my brother, Godt."

Godt nods and smiles tenderly at Kimmon, lacing their fingers together. He has learned to be more confident in their relationship. Kimmon has shown him love and respect which he has not had for a long time. Kimmon meets his eyes and they enter a trance of love and passion.

Krist loops his arm over Singto's arm and lays his head on Singto's shoulder. Singto kisses Krist's forehead. They both sigh simultaneously in happiness. Singto is happy for his brother who has found his person, the person he wants to spend his life with. He remembers every memory of how his brother gushes over love and marriage as a child. He has finally found it.

Krist is in tears, seeing Godt in a relationship he finally deserves. Godt tried so hard to find love and belonging in family, friends and romance. It was a long hard path for him. The entire Thai lakorn of his family feud ended up aliening him away from his family, many of his friends took advantage of his status and wealth, and his romantic relationships were locked-up secrets and two-timing assholes. He truly started living after meeting Krist and Perth which was 5 years ago.

Krist squeezes Singto's hand, his eyes brimming with tears. Singto holds Krist with another hand, pulling him close and whispering into his ear. They exchange an intimate kiss. "I love you," Krist whispers after breaking their kiss. They all found happiness.

Perth stands a few feet behind them, witnessing the entire scene. Suthapong stands behind him, patting his back in support while Thanawat plants kisses on his cheek. After a few seconds, Perth turns around and asks, "when is your day off? I want to invite you both for a short vacation."

"Staycation? Sure. Does that mean you're ready for us?" Thanawat smiles. Perth bites his lip and nods. He is ready. Thanawat smiles wider and leans down for a gentle kiss.

"Ahem! Pardon my rudeness to all, the King has returned."

An official guard announces politely, bringing everyone back to reality. He bows and leaves the premises. Everyone exchanged an awkward look. It is time to meet the King. They all straighten their outfit and tidy their hair as if bracing themselves for an important meeting.

Kimmon walks out first with Godt at his side. Singto and Krist walk hand-in-hand. Thanawat and Suthapong follow them two steps behind with Perth in the middle.

This is it.

Unknowingly, I ended this chapter with "This is it." The same ending I did for the first two chapters. I guess it connects somehow.

The year ends in 46 days and I'm not ready for a new year. The best thing that happened: I finally ended therapy on 11 Nov!

Aim to complete this story by 2022. Fingers crossed!
