~March 24, 1986~
The following morning, the group gathered in the Wheeler's basement, reading over the Weekly Watcher articles on Victor Creel that Nancy, Robin and Ace had found yesterday at the library. Ace was dead asleep in an armchair, letting out light snores every so often while Lucas and Dustin sat on the couch.
Jessica stifles a yawn from the second armchair as she turns her article over, reading the back of it as Steve paces back and forth. "Okay, be honest. Uh...You guys understand any of this?"
Lucas shakes his head. "No." While Dustin nods. "Pretty straightforward." At Dustin's comment, Steve stops in his tracks. "Oh, straightforward, really?" "What's confusing to you?" Dustin asks as Steve begins to pace again. "So far, everyone Vecna has cursed has died, expect for this old Victor Creel dude Nancy found. He's the only known survivor. If anyone knows how to beat this curse, it's him."
Steve scoffs. "Yeah, that's assuming he was cursed, which we don't even know." Steve raises his left hand to his forehead, rubbing it in frustration. "How can Vecna have existed in the '50s? It doesn't make sense." Dustin shrugs. "As far as we know, Eleven didn't create the Upside Down." Jessica nods. "Yeah, she only opened a gate to it." Dustin nods. "Exactly. The Upside Down has probably been around for thousands of years. Millions. I wouldn't be surprised if it predated the dinosaurs."
Jessica looks over at Dustin in confusion while Steve shakes his head. "Dinosaurs? What are we-"
"Okay. But if a gate didn't exist in the '50s, how did Vecna get through?" Lucas questions from beside Dustin.
