WINNA wiped her tears when her father left the room. Sobrang hapdi ng puso niya matapos sabihin ng tatay niya na walang kwenta ang proposal na ginawa niya. She spent nights and day preparing the proposal and yet, her father isn't satisfied. He even called her names.
Disappointment, failure, worthless.
All of it strucked Winna to the core. Another night of crying and the next day, she continued her life like nothing happened. Wala naman kasing mangyayari kung magmumukmok siya, 'di ba?
She entered the office confidently. Binati siya ng ilang empleyado at binati niya naman ito pabalik. Dumiretso siya sa opisina niya at namataan doon ang kapatid niya na kumakain habang may binabasang papel.
"Ang aga mo," sabi niya kay Brylie na napatingin sa kaniya.
"Morning, 'te. Maaga akong nagising kaya pumasok na ako dito," sabi nito at tinuro ang pagkain sa mesa. "Ito pala, iniwan ni Jairo dito," sabi ni Brylie.
"Hmm? Jairo?"
Brylie nodded. "Yes, Jairo. Hindi siya makapasok at saktong nakasalubong ko kaya ayan," Brylie smiled knowingly. Winna nodded and went to her chair. She grabbed the foods Jairo left for her.
"Umiyak ka ba, 'te?" tanong ni Brylie sa kaniya. Winna froze and looked at Brylie who's seriously looking at her.
Halata bang umiyak siya?
Winna shook her head. "Hindi ah! Bakit ako iiyak?" tanong niya at umiwas ng tingin sa kapatid. "Magtrabaho ka na, baka dumating si papa," sabi niya.
It's an everyday routine eversince their mother died. Lagi na lang silang sinasaktan ng tatay nila, pisikal man o mental. They couldn't do anything about it. Gusto nilang makalaya na sa pananakit ng ama nila pero, wala silang lakas gawin 'yon. All they want is to be free and happy but, when can they achieve it?
When afternoon came, Winna was left alone at the office. Nagpaalam kasi si Brylie na aalis muna. Naiwan siya doon at tinapos ang trabaho.
While working, she heard a knock on her door. Nang tingnan niya 'yon, nakita niya si Jairo na naroon, nakasilip at nakangiti sa kaniya.
"P'wedeng pumasok?" tanong ng lalaki. Winna's eyes softened and she nodded.
Naupo ang lalaki sa tabing upuan niya at tumitig sa kaniya. Inangat nito ang kamay at hinawi ang buhok niya. Hinaplos nito ang noo niya pababa sa mata niya kaya napapikit si Winna.
"Umiyak ka?" Jairo softly asked her. Winna sighed in defeat as she realized that it's really obvious that she cried so hard.
Afterall, she couldn't keep secrets with Jairo, her boyfriend. Jairo works for their company for years now. He's a Filipino and he's the one who approached Winna the moment he saw her cry for the first time. It's weird but, he suddenly had the urge to protect Winna from the person that is making her cry. He did everything to make Winna happy but, he was the one who became happy when Winna told him that she loves him too. Eversince that, he promised that he will do everything to keep Winna happy.
