Karin POV:
I had to cancel my flight to Miami with Tyler because Lexi is in labor. Ty was upset but he understood, I told him I would meet him as soon as she pushes out the baby.
After 2 hours my nephew Codie was finally here, I went into the hallway FaceTiming Ty to let him know that that baby is here and I'm looking for last minute flights to him. As we're talking on FaceTime I see a bunch of nurses with a gurney run towards Lexi room
"Umm Ty Ima call you back I think something is going on."
"Ok baby just keep me updated"
I ran down the hall and seen Lexi being put on a stretcher with a blood covered blanket, CJ stood next to her with tears coming down his face while holding Codie
CJ's mom took Codie out of his hands and walked to the nursery with another nurse
"What's wrong with her? What's going on? Sis I'm right here I love you"
"Ma'am please move out the way so we can get her to the O.R."
I put my hands on my head and started crying "God please"
"Sis she gone be good. She gotta be good, Codie needs her. Fuck I need her." CJ said pacing back and forth
Dave, Kenn and Brandon came running up the hall
"Yo fuck is going on we just saw Lexi?" Brandon asked
Kenn ran over to me hugging me "She's going to be fine K, you know she's a fighter"
"Where's Codie?" Dave asked
"My mom and the nurse took him. Man my head all fucked up"
After 15 minutes I got myself together, going into the bathroom and wiping my face off with some water. My eyes were so red, I shot Tyler a text letting him know what's going on and I wouldn't be able to make it. I came out of the bathroom bumping into someone "I'm sorry"
"You good ma? You need anything?" I looked up seeing it was Dave
I shook my head yes then started crying again, he hugged me tight rubbing my back and naturally I wrapped my arms around his waist
"Lexi gone be good ma, stop crying"
"I'm sorry" I said lifting my head up and letting him go "I'm trying my best to hold it together."
"We all are but we gotta be strong for her and CJ right now"
We walked back to the waiting area with everyone else, Kenn laid her head on my shoulder once I sat down
CJ was standing up looking outside the window, Dave and Brandon was next to him talking
We sat around for 2 hours before a doctor came out.
"Family of Alexis Abrams"
We all stood up and walked over
"We were able to stop the bleeding she is fine but still needs rest. This is not uncommon for mom to bleed out after delivery especially with having such a high risk pregnancy and being pre-diagnosed with preeclampsia."
CJ blew out a deep breathe "Can I see her?"
"Yes, she's back in her delivery room only two visitors at a time. She may still be a little loopy from the medication and anesthesia though."
CJ ran down the hall.
"Go head Karin, you're the godmom" CJ's mom said
"Ok I'll be quick so you guys can see her."
I walked down the hall and heard CJ talking to Lexi
"Baby you had me so fucking scared. I can't ever lose you, I would really lose my mind."
"I'm here baby for you and Codie, I promise I'm not going anywhere. I promise I'm ok."
He kissed her hand
"Hey sis, you had me worried." I chuckled
"I know I'm sorry. I love y'all so much" she said as one tear escaped from her eye
"We all love you too"
After everyone saw Lexi, we all got a chance to see Codie and hold him.
It wasn't too late it was now 3pm, realizing I had time to make it to Tyler. Lexi cursed me out and told me I better go to my man and enjoy myself, even after telling her many times I can stay and help her.
"Sis call me when you land please, I love you." Lexi told me
"I love you too and I love you godson. I'll be to see y'all as soon as I get back"
"Ok"
I left out the room, going to the elevators so I could go home and grab my bags to catch my flight.
I got on the elevator press G for the lobby when a hand stopped the doors from closing.
It was Dave
"Yo Karin can we talk?"
"Yeah, what's up?"
We got off walking toward the entrance as I gave valet my ticket to get my car
"We about to go into a new year and I just don't want shit being bad between us any more."
"I don't want it to be like this between us either"
"Look Karin, I still love you. I'm not over you, I never got over you. I don't want nothing if it ain't with you ma, you're the woman for me."
"Dave.. I-"
"You don't have to say anything now but please just think about it. Think about us, we can be a family. I know I fucked up in the past but I really want to make things right. I want to be the man you deserve."
"Dave I have to catch a flight, can we talk when I get back?" I said as my car was pulling up
"Yeah yeah, that's cool. I'll see you when you get back."
"Ok, tell Kenni told call me and I love her" I said getting in my car
Once I got back to my house I grabbed my suitcases, I locked up my apartment heading to the airport. Once I got to the airport FaceTimed Tyler, he answered on the first ring
"Talk to me baby"
"I'm on my way to you, I'm at the airport now."
"Ok baby, someone will be there to pick you up when you land. Send me your gate again."
"Ok I'll see you when I land" I said blowing him a kiss then hanging up
After going through TSA and putting my bag in the overhead bin, I sat back in my seat. I was happy I could find first class seats at the last minute and even happier I was about to be with my man.
I ordered a drink with the flight attendant, as bad as I wanted to sleep on this flight that conversation with Dave kept playing in my head.
