Dave POV:
"I'm gone send Karin and Kennie away while we do this I don't want them caught up in nothing." Isaid
"I'll send Kennedy and the kids too." My brother agreed
"We gotta be smart about this shit." He added
"I'm not worried, we'll be good. Probably don't even gotta get our hands dirty" I said
"Lexi gone be good at the crib with my mom. I'll put security on the crib." CJ replied
Karin and Kennie walked in and we stopped talking. They've been staying here since that night Karin showed up, I couldn't risk her being at home. I can't complain, I loved having them here with me it just felt right like I got my family back under one roof.
"Hey y'all" Karin spoke softly
"Uncle CJ" Kennie said with a frown folding her arms "you said we go to target and get toys"
We all started laughing and shaking our heads. You can't tell Kennie you gone do something because she gone remind you every 5 minutes.
"We can go tomorrow, Auntie Lexi can pick you up from school. Ok?" He said holding his arms out for a hug
She smiled hugging him "Ok! I'm gone call Auntie Lexi"
"Y'all created a monster man" he said laughing
"She act like her mom" I said
"And what does that mean David?" Karin asked walking back in the living room
"A spoiled brat"
She rolled her eyes and walked away
"See I'm glad I gave her money last week so she ain't hitting me up for nothing." Rari said
"Nigga I gave her money last week, she playing us" I said
"Ima get with y'all later I'm gone go check on the fam" CJ said getting up then dappin us up
"Ima head out too" Rari said
"Cool but, a week from now this gotta get done." I said
"Bet."
I walked them to the door then locking it once they left out.
"You'll do what a week from now?" Karin said as I walked back into the living room
"Sending y'all on a trip for a little bit, just to relax"
She raised her eyebrow "mhmm"
I shook my head chuckling "what?"
"Nothing. So where are we going?"
"Where do y'all want to go?" I asked
"You're not coming?" She asked
I shook my head no
"Dave I'm not slow, I know what this is."
"Karin I'm not having this conversation. Where you want to go?"
She made a face as if she was thinking hard & I couldn't help but laugh a little "Just tell me by tomorrow so I can have everything set up for y'all" I said
"Ok"
"You cooking tonight?" I asked poking my bottom lip out
She chuckled "Yup! Stuffed chicken over homemade mash potatoes and asparagus"
"Damn. I was gone go out for a little bit but I'm staying in now" I said rubbing my hands together
"You are so greedy"
"I haven't had a home cooked meal in awhile" I said truthfully
I followed her into the kitchen "How you feeling today?"
"Honestly, good. Kennie and you have been helping, Kennie always make me happy but you have always made me feel safe."
"That's good mama, and you know I'm always here for your forever."
"And I appreciate you so much for that."
We continued talking while she cooked, she even talked about working again. She wanted to take a select few clients 3 days out of the week, but said she needed a small studio space. I told her to find something and I would pay for it, even though she wanted to pay herself but I wouldn't take no for an answer.
"The food is almost done I'm gonna go get Kennie"
I nodded my head then sat in a chair at the island
I soon heard Kennie's little feet running towards the kitchen, I turned around putting my arms out and she ran to me hugging me tightly
"Hi daddy"
"Hi baby, did you have a good day?"
"Yeah"
"Guess what? Daddy got a surprised for you"
She gasped "is it a new toy?"
I chuckled "no, you don't need any more toys girl"
She pouted and folded her arms
"I'm sending you and mommy on a trip"
"Yay! You come to daddy?"
"Maybe butt butt"
"Ok" she said still pouting
"It's ok boo, we'll still have fun. Auntie Kenn, Brix will be there, and baby Brielle"
She started smiling then eating her food "Ok mommy"
"Dave, I want to go to Miami"
"You sure?"
"Yes.. I want to go back to where it started, maybe that will clear my thoughts"
"Ok mama, I'll find a house now to book"
"Ok"
After we ate I helped Karin clean up and she was super quiet since except when she was talking to Kennie
"What's on your mind?" I asked
"I just want you to be ok and for Kennie to come back home to her dad in one piece"
"I'm gone be good mama. I'll meet y'all in Miami 2 days after y'all touch down, no later I promise"
She hugged me tight and I wrapped my arms around her waist then rubbed her sides
