Severus, Regulus and Lucius sat together on the blond's balcony and talked animatedly. The three went to the same school together and had been good friends for five years now.

Regulus sat on a light grey hanging chair with black cushions and listened intently to Lucius, who was sitting on a comfortable, homemade and cushioned bench.
Severus had reclined in the space between them and pressed his feet against the thin metal bars of the balcony.

In the background, Lucius played soft music over a speaker, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
Next to the black-haired man were Regulus' and Lucius' mobile phones and also Severus' laid there.

Since he had been secretly in a relationship with a boy from a class below them, he had made it a habit to turn his mobile phone on loud and always carry it with him when he was with his friends.
This now paid off when an unfamiliar ringtone interrupted their conversation.
Hastily, Severus reached for his smartphone and answered the call when he saw his boyfriend's name.

With eager eyes, Regulus and Lucius watched as the smallest of them slowly stood up and motioned for them to be quiet.
Only then did he speak.

"Baby? Are you alright, what happened? Where are you, darling?"
He hadn't even noticed that his friends had followed him and were now quietly making fun of his pet names.
He always felt out of place when they joked about it, knowing how it felt to be in love.

But now he ignored them and concentrated fully on his boyfriend, who answered him in a tear-stained voice.

"I'm home, Sev. I- I know you're with your friends right now, but I miss you. I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have called at all. Oh my god, shit..."
for a brief moment there was silence on the other end of the line and Severus knew it was time to go.

"I should hang up now. Go and have fun with-"
Softly, he was interrupted.

"Darling, it's all right. Stay where you are, I'll come to you. Don't worry, I'll be there in about 10 minutes."

The phone clamped between his ear and shoulder, he was tying up the last lace. Then he absently waved goodbye to his friends before grabbing his things and running down the stairs.
On the street, he made his way quickly to the bus station, where he looked stressed at the display. A few minutes until the bus would arrive.

"Do you want me to talk to you for the rest of the time?" Severus asked gently, getting a quiet agreement in reply.
"Everything is good, Rem. My bus will be here in three minutes. I'll be home in a blink of an eye."

The handy thing about being an orphan and not having the government looking after you was that Severus had his own place, which he funded with a small job and his parents' inheritance.

He had given Remus a key when they had come together, just for situations like this.
The black-haired boy waited jittery for the bus and then got on impatiently.
He spotted a free seat at the end of the bus.

"Okay, Remus. I'm on my way now. I need you to endure it for a few more minutes. Can you do that for me?"

Severus smiled slightly when he heard the soft "Mhm" from his partner and decided to distract him a little.
"Tell me about your day, love."

And so the ride flew by. Severus, who had leaned his head against the window pane, listened patiently to Remus and said something every now and then.

"Sev?" asked Remus nervously, pacing the living room like a caged animal.
"I'll be right there, baby. I'm unlocking the front door now."
The next moment the younger boy heard the key in the lock and raced into the anteroom.

Immediately he stood in front of the open door and looked down in shame when he saw Severus in his eyes.
The older boy walked slowly towards him, put a reassuring hand on his shoulder and gently pulled him closer.

He stroked his back reassuringly and walked him into the bedroom, where he manoeuvred him onto the bed as best he could and no sooner had Severus laid down than a trembling and sobbing Remus was lying on top of him.

Soothingly, Severus hummed their favourite song and meanwhile assured Remus that he didn't have to apologise for his mental issues.

"But Sev..." the brown-haired student sniffled, "surely it's annoying when I start crying over every little thing."

Severus hugged him closer and gave him a gentle kiss.
"Oh baby, that's not true at all. Besides, you don't cry that often. You're built close to water, that's nothing to be ashamed of.
I struggle with tears too when I'm sad, angry or desperate. That's completely normal."

Remus looked at him doubtfully, deciding to ignore his trust issues for once. Even though it was incredibly difficult for him to believe Severus' words, he tried.
Again, Remus sighed softly and began to play with his boyfriend's silky hair.

"Um, Sev?" the brown-haired man asked softly,
"Yes, my love?"
Severus looked down at him, waiting.
"I just wanted you to know that I love you."

They both looked at each other with wide eyes.
They had never said it before, which was why Severus was getting a little off track.

"Sorry...." Remus murmured, but moments later his lips were captured in a loving kiss.
Severus leaned his forehead against his boyfriend's.
"Oh Rem..., I do love you too. My precious angel."

"I will never leave you, no matter what."
