Tough Times

A/N Abhira got married 6 months back

Akshara is going to Birla Hospital to meet her husband. She has to discuss some urgent matters with him. She reached his cabin and entered without knocking on the door. Abhi strictly refused her to knock on the door. 

As Akshara enters his cabin, he is surprised to see her. She has no sessions in the hospital today. "Akshu tum yha, this is a nice surprise", Abhi stands up and kisses her deeply before letting her speak. When Akshara ended the kiss abruptly, Abhi looked surprised.

"What's wrong, you seem.. off today? Are you alright"? Abhi asked her and sat on the couch of his cabin.

"I need your help with something. Can you help me" asked Akshara with a hopeful face.

"Of course baby, anything. Just tell me what it is and I will do it", replied Abhi gently while holding her face in his hands, brushing her lips with his thumb.

"I need you to set the timer on the phone while I take this," said Akshu who pulled out the pregnancy test packets from her purse and showed them to him.

"Really? Oh my god, are we pregnant?" shouts Abhi. He stands up and starts moving to and fro in his cabin.

"I don't yet Abhi, hence the reason I bring these 5 tests with me. Now calm down and tell me what I have to do" Akshara said in a no-nonsense tone.

"How should I know?" Abhi replied cluelessly.

"You are a doctor, Abhi", Akshu said in a duh tone.

"Oh, yes I know that. But I am a gynaecologist or obstetrician to know that na" again Abhi replied dumbly.

"Shut up, Abhi. You just put the timer on the phone I will read the instructions written at the back of the test", said Akshara and went towards the washroom. Abhi went with her and put his phone on the vanity. Akshu pees on the sticks and then washed her hands and hopped on the vanity.

Abhi puts the timer on his phone and sits beside her. "How come you think you are pregnant?" asked Abhi curiously.

"I have missed my period which comes like clockwork and my breasts are tender like really tender. So my first indication of these symptoms is pregnancy", Akshu answered him. Abhi wraps his arm around her shoulder and kisses her softly on the temple. Akshu puts her head on his shoulder just as the phone starts beeping. 

They both stand up from the vanity and look eagerly at the tests. They both gasped looking at the result. "Holy sh*t we are pregnant", screamed Abhi who then picked her up and twirled her around. "Thank you Akshu you've made me the happiest man in the world". Akshu had tears running from her eyes. She just put her lips on him. The kiss is passionate and loved, it shows how much it means to him.

"I know Abhi we haven't talked about kids till now. But are we ready for this responsibility na? We can have the baby at this stage of our lives na", Akshu put her inhibitions in front of him. 

"Don't worry baby, we will be fine. I know we haven't talked about the baby yet. But we are ready for it. Now come on we have to go to the doctor and confirm this news. I have so many questions to ask. Chalo, what are you waiting for", Abhi took her arm and rushed to the ob department.

The doctor confirmed Akshu's pregnancy. She is 5 weeks pregnant according to the doctor's calculation. Due to faulty ultrasound machines, they cannot have an ultrasound that day. The ultrasound will be done on the next appointment.

The couple broke the happy news to the family. All the members of the family are very excited about this new addition. A new Birla member is added to the family. They are very happy. Goenkas are also very excited. Mimi put a pooja for the kid's well-being.
