Meredith and Derek had moved to Seattle a month ago and today they'd start their new job at Seattle Grace Hospital. They had gotten Emma ready for her first day at the new daycare at the hospital.

Meredith and Derek love having Emma closeby, especially when they have lunch they prefer to pick her up and have lunch together.

"Are you comfortable, Em?" Meredith asks, turning herself in the seat. They were sharing a car today since they'd start at the same time today and end at the same time

"Yes mama!" Emma smiled at her mom, cuddling her stuffed bunny as she was still a bit sleepy

"Okay princess." Meredith chuckled. Then Derek got in the car after making sure everything was ready to leave. He starts the car and drives to the hospital, holding onto Meredith's hand while they sat in the car while taking the ferry.

"Are you nervous? You haven't been there since.. you know.." Derek squeezed her hand

"A bit. But Richard is aware and Alex still works there. So I at least have one friend." She chuckles

"And Addie and Mark." Derek leaned in to kiss her

"I know, but they are family." Meredith kissed Derek back

"Nooo!!! That's yucky!" Emma placed her hands on her eyes

"What's yucky? Me kissing mommy?" Derek smirks

"Boys are grosssss!"

"Daddy isn't gross." Meredith said with a smirk

"Don't kiss!" Emma laughed loudly.

"One last?" Derek asks his daughter and quickly kissed Meredith

"Daddy!!" Emma closed her eyes again, causing Meredith and Derek to chuckle

By then the ferry arrived and they could continue their ride to the hospital. He then parked at their new parking spot Richard had arrived for them.

It took them a bit to get all out of the car and to bring Emma to daycare

"Mommy and daddy love you. We'll come get you for lunch!" Meredith promised, kissing her daughter's forehead

"Can I have fwies?" Emma's eyes went wide

"Brave 4 year olds can have fries, right daddy?" Meredith smiles

"Of course." Derek laughed

Meredith and Derek continued their way upstairs to Richard's office, Derek's hand rubbing her shoulder softly, knowing she was nervous to be back here

"Grey, Shepherd." Bailey smiles widely as she spots the two. "Glad to have you back."

"We're glad to be back. We enjoyed New York but it's good to be back with our family." He smiles at her

"Ah! Meredith, Derek! Come in, please!" Richard smiled as he saw them, opening the door of his office for them

"I'll come see you later." Bailey smiled and walked off

Meredith and Derek entered the office. Derek sat down, Meredith positioning herself next to him, holding hands

"It's good to see you two back. We're happy to see you, I'll show you around in a bit. First we need to deal with some formalities." Richard starts. Meredith hated the look he gave her, the look of pity.

"I'm okay, Richard. I have been for the past 7 years." She made him clear

"I know, I'm sorry. Meredith, your surgical wheelchair arrived earlier this week. We prepped it and placed it in your new office." He starts telling her. "You're sure that's all you need?" He asked

"Of course. I've been operating for the past 6 years like that, I know what I'm doing." She nods and felt Derek squeezing her hand. "I know I'm a complete paraplegic, but you hired me like this. I've earned my job as head of general. I can operate like any other person as long as I have my surgical wheelchair and that the team I work with are aware of my needs." Meredith said sternly. In the past years she had learned how to fight for herself

7 years ago she lost all sensation and movement from the chest down, leaving her as a complete T6 paraplegic.

But life didn't stop for her and Derek. They got married and eventually had their daughter. But that doesn't mean she doesn't have bad days, or days that she doesn't want to avoid her malfunctioning body

"Okay, I know Meredith. I know that, I didn't wanna insult you." Richard apologized

"Can we start? I'd love to see what has changed in the past years." Meredith said

Richard nodded and got up, taking the lead as he shows the renewed hospital to them

Derek and Meredith had gotten their offices ready, started on some files as they would see the other doctors in a few minutes. Richard had arranged a meeting in a conference room because there were 3 new doctors starting today

Derek opened the door for Meredith and let her wheel inside

"Mer!" Alex walked up to her, hugging her right away

"Hey Alex." She hugged him back. "Glad to see you. Sorry, we've been so busy settling down." She sighed as it was real hell

"Don't worry. Is little munchkin in daycare?" He asks while seeing some people stare at her

"Yep, Emma's in daycare." She chuckled, trying to ignore the staring. Meanwhile Derek was catching up with Bailey

"Sorry that we're late!" Mark and Addison hurried inside, chuckling a bit, which made Derek and Meredith wonder if they had been in one of their offices for 'an emergency'.

Then Richard walked inside with a new doctor. A blonde female doctor

"Doctor Grey, Doctor Shepherd?" Richard called them to come closer

Meredith and Derek make their way over next to Derek

"Let me introduce you to Dr Meredith Grey, head of general and Dr Derek Shepherd as head of neuro." Richard starts. "And Dr Leah Murphy as a neuro resident.

Meredith felt Murphy's eyes on her which made her very uncomfortable. But Murphy wasn't the only one, a few other doctors looked a bit confused before everyone said their welcomes and had to leave again

"Well I'll leave the three of you. Derek, you take care of Dr Murphy?" Richard asked

"I will." Derek nodded and watched Richard leave. "Goodluck to you as well." He said to Meredith as she unlocked her breaks and left the room, not kissing as they don't wanna kiss around their co workers

"Okay Dr Murphy. Follow me, please."
