Murphy followed Derek to his office where they'd have to get some formalities done

"That's unacceptable. A doctor in a wheelchair." Murphy rolled her eyes

"Why is that?" Derek looked at her, wanting to lecture her, or even start yelling

"She can't even help in an emergency! If she's in my way.. what do I do?" Murphy scoffed

"I'm certainly sure Dr Grey is used to that. I've worked with her before, she's often faster than me." Derek said, but not wanting to say anything about his marriage. He had an idea

"I'm skeptical." She crossed her arms

Finally it was time for lunch. Derek made his way over to Meredith's office and knocked on the door

"Hey." He smiled as he got inside

"Hey you." Meredith smiled. She sat down on the couch, her legs resting on her wheelchair as she had a surgery this afternoon and wanted to elevate her legs to prevent them from swelling

"Lunch time." He winks and walks up to her, kissing her lips

"Okay handsome." She chuckles and quickly gets herself into her wheelchair. She was fast, extremely fast, Derek more proud every single day, especially after comments from people like Murphy

"Let's go get Emma. How was your morning?" He asked her, opening the door for her

"Very good. I have Jo Wilson, she's working with both me and Addie. And I have Helm and Schmitt. They're promising. Although.. Helm was staring.. but not at my chair. I think you have some rivalry." Meredith laughed

"Hmm let's show off then at the cafeteria." He chuckles, mainly ready to shock Murphy

They got into the elevator and to daycare, picking up Emma

"Mama! Daddy!" She ran towards them

"Hi princess!" Derek lifts her up and hugs her tight, then placing her on Meredith's lap.

"Hi lovebug." Meredith hugs the girl tight, fixing the buns she had made in the girl's curly blonde hair this morning

"I so hungwy!!! I'm getting fwies, right mommy?" She asks, already knowing Derek was more of a health freak

"Of course. We can get a big portion of fries to share." Meredith nods

"I won't get fries, I think I'll grab a pasta." Derek tells them

"I meant sharing between Emma and myself." Meredith stuck out her tongue

"Oh. Of course." He laughed and they entered the cafeteria, some interns and a few interns looking at them closely, wondering who the little girl was on Meredith's lap

"Duhn daddy." Meredith winks playfully and they get in line

Derek saw the eyes that were pointed on them and took his chance, kissing Meredith's lips passionated

"What was that for?" Meredith laughs as Emma was so focussed on wanting her fries

"To make sure everyone knows you're mine." Derek whispers, kissing her again

"Ho Shep! It's a hospital!" Mark laughed. "Addie's saving us a spot. Emma, tell me. How's daycare?" He asked his niece

"It's gweat!" She smiles. "Mommy and I are gonne have fwies!" She giggled

"Oh really? I will grab some too! You can have a bite of my burger then!" Mark smiled, Derek rolled his eyes

"Yes!" Emma smiles

They ordered their food, the guys carrying it and making their way over to the table Addie had saved a spot for them, making sure there was an empty spot so Meredith could wheel up

"Thanks." Meredith smiled, really glad of how her day had gone so far. Emma took a seat in between her and Derek and they all started eating

A while later Meredith was getting ready for her first surgery in Seattle Grace Hospital. She had her compression socks on, her catheter was secured so she wouldn't need to take a break to use the bathroom and she wheeled up to the OR where her wheelchair was waiting, completely sterile. She scrubbed and headed inside, seeing Derek waiting for her.

"Sorry. Just wanted to be here." He smirked

"Silly." She laughed and changed into the operating chair. She strapped herself in and let the chair lift her so she was standing

"Hmm.. I wish I could hug and kiss you." Derek laughs. "You got this. I gotta go now. Page me when you're done so we can go home." He said and winked

"Love you." Meredith yelled as he walked out, Bailey entering

"Still so in love with each other. Some things will never change." Bailey chuckled and got ready next to Meredith. They had a patient with liver cancer, they were gonna cut away as many of the cancerous parts as possible and see if they could remove some mets without doing any damage before they'd continue treatment.

"So Grey... How's your daughter?" Bailey asked curious

"She's the best. She really stole our hearts." Meredith smiles proudly

"They have that effect." Bailey nods, chuckling softly as she thought about her own family

"She's such a smart kid. And I'm so happy she'll now grow up around Derek's parents and Mark and Addie. It was just Derek and me back in New York. I want her to have a family." Meredith nods and started cutting open the patient. "Let's help this patient." She said dedicated

Can't believe this is my 30th story! I'm doing my best to also update my other story. I'm currently supposed to study for my second chance exams so no classes or work which hopefully gives me enough time to write for y'all!
