"Derek!" Meredith yelled

"Mama! I hungwy!" Grace kept wining

"Derek!" Meredith yelled again

"Mommyyyy!" Grace started crying and let herself drop on the ground

"Grace-" Meredith sighed defeated, knowing she couldn't pick up her daughter from the ground

"Mommy? Is everything okay?" Emma walked inside

"Emmie, can you go get daddy, please?" Meredith asked, her voice trembling

"Okay." Emma nodded and ran off, calling out for her dad

"Grace, please come here, I promise I'll help you." Meredith tried again

"Mer?" Derek jogged inside, worried as he heard his daughter's cries

"C-Can you help? She wants her blanket but I can't reach them." Meredith muttered as she couldn't get into Grace's closet easily

"Of course." Derek quickly grabbed it, hating that he had put the blanket in the closet where Meredith couldn't reach it. "Sorry, daddy was a bit stupid, I shouldn't have put it in the closet."

"Mommy, why can't you use youwr legs?" Little Grace asked

"Do you remember we told you mommy had an accident before you were born?" Derek asked as he saw Meredith's face changing instantly

Emma had always been easier with understanding and accepting while Grace asked more questions and didn't understand why her mother can't walk

"Uhu." Grace nodded her head, suddenly they spotted Emma in the doorway

"Mommy-" Emma whispered and went to hug her mom, feeling she was sad

"Well mommy's legs stopped working when mommy's spine broke." Derek sat down on Grace's bed and lifted her into his lap as Emma hugged her mom tight

"But.." The little girl seemed to think very hard. "You're a doctow." She pointed at her dad

"Auntie Amy did surgery on mommy. And she did really, really well." Meredith said, trying not to sound too sad about the loss of her lower half

"I don't care, mommy." Emma commented and smiled up at her mother, hugging her the best way possible

"Well what about we finally get some food?" Meredith suggested, knowing Grace was hungry

"Let me make some grilled cheese. Emmie, do you wanna help?" Derek asked

"No, I wanna stay here." She said, holding onto her mom's hand

"It's okay. I'll entertain them." Meredith winked softly, chuckling a bit as Grace was playing with her wheels, pushing her forward

"Mamaaa!" Grace giggled

"Easy honey-" Meredith pulled the brakes to prevent her from bumping into the wall

"Grace, we can't do this to mommy." Emma said. "Mommy, can we watch some tv together?"

"Of course, honey. Grace, do you wanna watch some tv as well?"

"No!" Grace pouted and tried to climb onto Meredith's lap

"No!" Emma pushed her sister carefully away. "We can't climb onto mommy's lap yet!"

"Emmie, it's okay." Meredith was a bit shocked to see her oldest daughter react so harsh, causing Grace to start crying and throwing a fit

"No!" Grace crossed her arms and let herself fall onto her butt

"Em, you shouldn't have pushed her, please say sorry." Meredith wanted to deal with it without a big fuzz

"But mommy-" Emma started

"I'll tell Grace she was wrong." Meredith softly assured her

"Sorry.." Emma said to grace but the little girl was clearly not in the mood and kept crying

"Is everything okay?" Derek hurried inside

"I think she's very tired. Can you carry her to the couch really quick?" Meredith asked her husband, holding onto Emma's hand

Derek nodded and lifted Grace in his arms while she was moving in a try to escape

"Mama!" She squealed

"Soon." Meredith said and wheeled to the couch, Emma closeby. "Take a seat, girls. Let's pick a movie." She said and grabbed the remote

"Can we watch Frozen?" Emma asked her mother

"No!" Grace didn't agree

"What movie do you wanna watch?" Meredith asked her youngest daughter, squeezing her oldest daughter's hand softly in an apology

"Dunno." She shrugged

"Well maybe we can start off by watching Frozen while you think about what movie we can watch next?" Meredith suggested, almost desperate because of her daughter's bad mood

But Grace started whining a bit, clearly absolutely exhausted as she walked over the couch

"Carefully honey-" Meredith tried to stop her, Grace immediately clinging onto her mom and almost jumping into her arms while she couldn't carry the little girl right now

Meredith hadn't noticed but Emma sneaked away and returned quickly with Derek

"Daddy, Grace isn't being nice to mommy." She quietly said, feeling bad about snitching but wanting her mom to be okay

"Thanks for telling me." Derek kissed her blonde curls and hurried to the living room with the food

"Gracie, you need to stand up, honey." Meredith tried

"Food is here!" Derek quickly placed the food on the table, grabbed Grace and placed her on his lap. "Let's have the food here while we watch the movie." He said, eyening Meredith to see if she was doing okay

After Meredith gave him an assuring nod she tried to stretch her body as much as the metal rods screwed into her spine would allow her to

"Mommy, maybe we can watch the next movie in bed?" Emma suggested, scooting as close to her mom as possible as she was in her wheelchair next to the couch, the girl almost balancing on the armrest

"I love that idea a lot. But let us have this yummy grilled cheese first." Meredith carefully leaned in To kiss Emma's forehead softly
