Meredith has mainly been home the past days, not really wanting to go out as she wanted to be close to her daughters
Today she had been seeing her therapist, she went once a week, to talk about what happened during the robbing
She was currently driving home, really eager to see her kids
She got her car parked and got into her wheelchair, wheeling up to the house
"Daddy! Noooo!" She heard the girls giggling and laughing and her heart warmed instantly
"Mommy!" Emma was the first to spot her, hugging her tight. "I missed you." The girl had clearly become more clingy since the events
"Hi monkey." Meredith hugged her back
"Mama!" Grace giggled and ran towards her mom, almost making her tip over
"Easy-" Meredith laughed, just in time to stabilizer herself
"Daddy, mommy's home!" Emma smiled as Derek walked towards them
"I see." Derek chuckled and kissed Meredith's lips
"Ewwww!" Both girls laughed and ran off
"I kinda like it." Derek winked. "How was therapy?" He asked, rubbing her arm
"It was okay." Meredith nodded and removed her jacket
"Mom and dad invited us for dinner but I said I wanted to ask you first." Derek told her
"Sounds good, then I won't remove my shoes." She nodded, shifting a bit in her chair. "Can you check my tires soon?"
"I can check them now, what's up with them?" He asks, they headed over to the living room
"Think I will have a flat tire if I continue like this." Meredith explained. Derek lifted her onto the couch
"I'll be back soon. Yell if you need me." He told her and went to the garage to fix it
Meredith sat on the couch, pulling her legs closer and covering herself with a blanket when she suddenly felt very vulnerable
"Girls? Emma! Grace!" She called out for the girls, panic hearable in her voice
"Yes mommy?" Emma and Grace ran in
"Come here, please. Let's sit on the couch, tell me about your day." She reached for their hands and held them close
"We pwayed aaaall day!" Grace started telling, lots of excitement hearable in her voice
"Mommy, you okay?" Emma quietly asked, seeing her mom stare ahead
Meredith nodded, unable to speak up and she hugged her daughters close, starting to sob
"Mama?" Grace frowned confused
"It's okay, mommy." Emma hugged her mother tight
"Sorry." Meredith shook her head, trying to stop herself from crying.
"Daddy said we'll make pizza together.." Emma said, hoping to cheer up her mom
"Thanks sweeties." Meredith whispered and dried her tears
"Hey, got it fixed." Derek wheeled her chair inside again, unaware Meredith was crying
"Daddy! Come hug mama!" Grace ordered sternly
"Okay." Derek frowned and walked up to them, hugging his girls tightly and then he spotted Meredith's tears. "Is all okay?" He asked
"Yeah." Meredith nodded, she was starting to calm down, grasping onto his hand
"We gotta stawt on the pizza!" Grace yelled and ran off to the kitchen
"I'll place your chair here. Can I go check on Grace?" He asked as they heard loud noises
"Yeah, it's okay now." Meredith nodded, still hugging Emma
Derek nodded and hurried off as Grace was trying to open the fridge
"Is it because of those bad men?" Emma carefully asked, they barely had spoken about it but the girl was smart and bright and had figured things out
"A little bit." Meredith nodded. "I was just a little bit overwhelmed because I didn't have my chair close." Meredith explained
"But daddy took it, daddy always wants the best for us." Emma comforted her mom
"I know, sweetie. I know that." Meredith nodded
"We love you a lot, forever." Emma smiled as she looked up to Meredith
"I love you too, so much." Meredith kissed Emma's forehead. "You're amazing, thanks. What do you think? Are we gonna make our pizzas?" Meredith started her transfer into her wheelchair
"I want a lot of cheese." Emma chuckled as she patiently waited for her mom
"Sounds really good!!" Meredith smiled widely, wiping away the last tears. "Go ahead, I'm following." She told her
Derek and Grace had started putting everything on the accessible counter. He had made sure both his daughters could reach the counter and the same for Meredith
"Hey! We got everything out. I was thinking we could each do our own pizza?" He suggested
"I wanna have a taste of everyone's pizza." Meredith chuckled softly and wheeled over to him
"I love you." Derek kneeled down to kiss her, running his fingers over her cheek. "I'm sorry for earlier.." He apologized
"This isn't onto you. Just- I'll explain some other time." Meredith took a deep and shallow breath
"Okay, whenever you're ready." Derek nodded softly, only wanting her to tell him when she was ready
"Thanks. Now let's make our pizza, I don't think I want a bit from your healthy pizza." She teased him a bit, causing both of them to laugh a bit
I have been writing this chapter in so many parts hahaha. I was out at a concert but yesterday returned and my body completely gave out. Tomorrow my classes start again and I'm already done before it has even started 😂
