"Mer, you shouldn't carry these boxes." Derek sighed as they were moving back to their house

"I can leave them on my lap, my legs are paralyzed anyways." She rolled her eyes and wheeled out to the car, suddenly she felt her back starting to really bother her

"Are you okay?" Christopher asked as he saw Meredith's face changing

"My back-" Meredith muttered

Christopher bend down and pressed some spots, trying to relieve pain. "Is this okay?" He asked her

"Yes. Thanks dad." She nodded her head

"How's my granddaughter doing?" He asked her with a smile, hoping some distraction would help

"What's wrong?" Derek frowned as he saw his father and wife

"Her back is bothering her a bit." Christopher told his son

"I told you, Mer. Let us do it, please. You're 6 months pregnant, your bedrest starts soon." Derek asked her, he was just really scared she would get herself hurt

"I know but I just wanna help.." Meredith whimpered, stroking her belly. "I don't wanna be on bedrest." She complained

"We talked about this, your spine is suffering too much. It will be better to take care of your body and rest now so you don't have a massive setback and risk another surgery once the baby is born."

"I know.." Meredith nodded

"Come on, let's go inside and get you on the couch. Emma will probably wanna play with you." Derek kissed the top of her head and wheeled her inside

...

Derek and Mark had been driving up and down a few times but now they were finally ready to take Emma and Merdith to the house and settle back in their own home

"Girls! Are you ready?" Derek walked inside with a huge smile

"Shh, Meredith fell asleep." Carolyn chuckled as she hugged her son. "I'm really happy for the two of you that you can return again. We loved having you here and I promise we'll do better for Meredith." She promised

"Mom, the house is okay for her, just not to live more than a few days and not while she's pregnant." Derek wanted to ease his mom's feelings, knowing she has been beating herself up about this, she just always wanted what was best for her daughter in law

"I just wish we would have done a better job, Derek. You two have had a really rough time. You deserve some quiet time and peace before the baby is here." Carolyn hugged her son

...

Some weeks passed by, Meredith had started her bedrest as her spine was suffering too much from the weight of the baby. She was bored out of her mind but took the time to do research on her project

"Hey!" Addison walked inside with some snacks for them. "How's your research?"

"I can finally find some evidence of why a spinal cord injury affects other organs." Meredith told Addison

"Really?" Addison frowned and turned to face the evidence. "Wow Mer-"

"Imagine what we could do to finally work before the problems start in our bodies." Meredith kept going

"Hey, snacks first." Addison winked and placed the plate between them, both woman really enjoyed the snacks

"So good." Addison smiled widely and rubbed her stomach

"Is he kicking?" Meredith smiled

"Yeah, feel." Addison smiled and waited for Meredith to place her hand on her stomach. "Wow, he's really strong." Meredith chuckled

"How's Emma been responding to the baby being so active?" Addison asked

"She's very excited. Both for becoming a big sister but also for her little nephew to be born. She sorted out what toys they can play with and what toys she doesn't want to share." Meredith chuckled. "But I'm really scared she will eventually feel left out or something.."

"That's a possibility, but she's so excited. And she'll do such a great job as a big sister!" Addison eased Meredith's uneasy feeling

"I know. I'm just so worried about her." Meredith said, laying down as she felt tired

"Which is very normal. You're worried because she's your daughter. You and Derek love her, things will be okay." Addison hugged her friend. "Time for a nap?" The redhead winked

"Naptime." Meredith confirmed and cuddled into her pregnancy pillow
