"They're sending help." Derek walked back inside their bedroom. "They're gonna try to land with a helicopter. Addie is being picked up by firefighters so she'll be at the hospital by the time we arrive." Derek started explaining

"Derek-" Meredith teared up, hating that her pregnant best friend had to be brought to the hospital because of her, not to mention the flight. "You should stay here with Emma, she's safe here and has all her toys." Meredith explained

"We're coming, I'm grabbing all her stuff. In town it's going better so we might be back soon. They're finally clearing all the roads." He explained to her and hurried off to grab Emma's toys

"Daddy, will nana and poppa be there too?" Emma asked

"I don't think so, monkey. But auntie Addie will be." Derek explained to her. "So can you put all your favorite toys in your backpack, please? We can't bring much.." He sighed as he knew it would already be rough with two adults, a kid and Meredith's wheelchair

"Otay.." The little girl muttered and started packing

Derek quickly grabbed some clean clothes for his daughter and wife. He was planning on just wearing some scrubs as he just wanted them to be comfortable and warm

"Der-" Meredith called out for him

"Yes?" Derek hurried inside

"Is everything locked? Do you got your chargers and Emmie's pjs and her bunny?" Meredith asked him

"I do." He nodded and placed the bag on Meredith's wheelchair. "How are you?" He asked her

"Cold but fine." She shrugged, cuddling into his body

"How are your lungs feeling?" He asked and checked them out

"Sore from all the coughing but better." She assured him

"Good. I love you." He whispered. "And you too. You'll get your first flight in a bit." Derek kissed Meredith's stomach

"I'm wready!" Emma announced

"Let's put on our jackets and shoes." Derek got up to collect it all

"Are you excited? We're gonna fly in the air." Meredith tried to prepare Emma for what was about to happen but started shivering even worse, her body barely responding as she was so cold, a coughing fit started

"Are you okay?" Derek ran up to her, hearing her coughing violently so he quickly helped her out

"Now... Now I am." Meredith nodded and they heard the chopper arriving

He quickly put on Emma's jacket and boots and then helped Meredith into one of his jackets since hers wouldn't fit because of her belly

"I'll lift you into your wheelchair. Emma, stay on mommy's lap, okay?" Derek said and did so

He then brought them up to the front door, seeing the chopper landing on their land

"Doctor Shepherd? Doctor Grey?" Some guys ran up to the house

"Hello, I'm doctor Shepherd. My wife needs to be brought to Seattle Grace. Can two of you help to get her and her wheelchair carried to the chopper? She's pregnant." He told them, lifting Emma into his arms

"Cold-" Meredith shivered as she was laying down on the stretcher, she was freezing cold

"We're there in a minute." They got told. "We'll take you out on the stretcher and we'll bring your wheelchair in after. Your husband can take your daughter." The guy explained to her

"T-Thank y-you." She shivered, her eyes closing as Derek desperately tried to keep her warm

The heli landed and they all started working on getting the Shepherd family out and into the elevator

"Mer-" Addison gasped as she saw her blonde friend shivering on the stretcher

"Addie-" Derek's voice cracked

"Hi Em. Why don't you and daddy take off your jackets in his office? I'll get your mommy the bestest room so you can cuddle there, okay?" Addison gave her niece a hug and then went back to focus on Meredith. They brought her to an examination room where they started using heating pads and heating blankets in a try to get her body to go back to regulating while she started an ultrasound

Meredith was stirring as Addison adjusted her pillow because there was pressure on her spine

"I'll check your pressure sore in a little, but take a look at your little girl." Addison showed the screen to Meredith

"S-She's o-okay?" Meredith's teeth kept clattering

"She's perfectly fine." Addison rubbed Meredith's upper arm

"O-Oh god. I-I needed her to be okay.." Meredith teared up

"Now let's focus on you. I'll check the pressure wound first, then we'll focus on your temperature." Addison explained to her

A while later Meredith was taken care off, they'd turn her often enough to make sure there wouldn't be any more pressure wounds starting

Her temperature had slightly stabilized but still wasn't optimal and Addison had opted to leave the NG tube a little longer until her cold was completely over. It was very close to becoming pneumonia but they had gotten them out right on time, she'd have to stay here a bit longer to make sure no complications would arise

"I'm so glad you're okay. So glad." Derek kissed her forehead. "Both of you." He moved his hand to Meredith's stomach

"Me too." Meredith whispered. "I feel so sorry for you and Emmie." Meredith admitted

"Don't you dare." Derek said sternly. "Mom called, they'll come over tomorrow if the roads are cleared." He tucked her in, hearing Emma's snores as she was asleep with her mom

Probably won't update tomorrow, so this is to compensate!
